"Of course, I knew what was going to happen. Standing on a river bank, following the blue Toyota pickup truck on the other side with my eyes. Way too fast. The laws of physics said it was impossibly fast for the road it careened down. Then, the sharp right turn before the bridge. I'd seen this movie before, hadn't I? Slow motion, no happy ending on the replay, no matter how much I might wish it so. The rocking back and forth, the two wheel balancing act for one second, two seconds, and then three - until it flipped over. Over and over again, tumbling its way down the hill toward where the water waited, welcoming.
Why was there no sound? I didn't hear a splash; the truck seemed to penetrate the water like a determined diver; no hesitation. No bouncing or hovering on the surface.
