From the July 1937 Issue of Spicy Mystery Stories, "30 Seconds" by Robert Leslie Bellem and narrated by Mike Vendetti takes us to a rooftop forty stories above the pavement below where Philip Hayden is preparing to end his life because he has murdered his wife. But a strange bearded man pulls him from the parapet. Dr. Zarkov introduces himself as a Surgeon of Souls and offers Phillip a second chance if he can demonstrate that he has changed his evil philandering ways.

Will Phillip be able to overcome his past mistakes and prove to Dr. Zarkov that he is truly a changed man? Or will he succumb to the temptations that led him down the path of murder in the first place?

As Phillip struggles to navigate the challenges set before him by Dr. Zarkov, he finds himself torn between his desire for redemption and the seductive pull of his old ways. Can he resist the allure of a beautiful woman and stay true to the path of righteousness, or will he ultimately fall back into old habits and once again be consumed by his dark impulses?

Only time will tell if Phillip Hayden can truly change his ways and find a way to atone for his past sins. But one thing is certain - the choices he makes in the next 30 seconds will determine the course of his future, for better or for worse.
