"Callander's lilting British accent is perfectly suited for portraying detective Tessa Vance, as well as her new partner, Steve Hayden, and the other characters involved in this serial murder case. Tessa is struggling with personal problems and is starting work in a new homicide division. Callander easily differentiates Tessa's thoughts from her spoken words, so we're not confused. She also has a good ear for accents, and the vocal range to portray male voices realistically without straining. Reading at a brisk pace, Callander involves us in the motivations of a cunning killer." (AudioFile Magazine)

あらすじ・解説

A series of bizarre and mystifying murders plunges Tessa Vance into a hunt for an obsessive killer while a terrifying shadow from the past threatens to overwhelm her. In her first case with her new homicide division, Tessa has to prove herself, especially to her new partner, Steve Hayden. She knows there won't be any second chances. And this killer is clever, ruthless, and implacable. The grotesque clues left at the crime scenes lead nowhere. The murderer's victims seem to have nothing in common. But Tessa knows that the deaths form a pattern.
