富士山に登れるのは毎年7月の「山開き」からわずか2ヵ月間ですが、期間中には20万人を超える人が登山を楽しみます。
ふもとには、富士山の神を祀った神社、5つの湖からなる富士五湖、透明度の高い池が集まった忍野八海、滝、夏でも涼しい地下の洞穴などがあります。
