圧巻はJ.A.ベイカーの『The Peregrine』の紹介だ。著者自身が毎年読み返すというこの本に対する洞察は、単なる推薦を超えている。ベイカーが描いたハヤブサの眼差しを通して世界を観ること。それは、私たちがどれほど「見ているつもりで見ていない」かを突きつける。
