あらすじ・解説
Everyone knows that heart disease can be reversed, but hardly anyone knows that blood flow to the brain can also be improved. Peter Rogers, MD, is a neuroradiologist who is working to develop methods to increase blood supply to the brain. Most middle age and older adults have atherosclerosis in the arteries of their brains.
Learning how to minimize brain atherosclerosis helps people to optimize brain health. Dr. Rogers describes how atherosclerosis destroys the arteries of the brain, and then explains how to treat and prevent atherosclerosis. Dr. Rogers has been studying how to optimize cognitive function and how to prevent dementia for more than 20 years. Dr. Rogers explains the roles of viscosity, cholesterol, saturated fat, nitric oxide, diet, exercise, temperature, and therapeutic phlebotomy in atherosclerosis.
Exercise benefits including angiogenesis, neurogenesis, BDNF, mitochondrial biogenesis, and glycogen compensation are explained. Dr. Rogers has extensive experience in cerebral angiography, CTA, MRA, arterial stenting, and body angiography. Dr. Rogers did a fellowships in interventional radiology (imaging guided surgery with several months in coronary interventions) at Harvard and in neuroradiology (with a six-month emphasis on vascular neurointerventions). Dr. Rogers did a transitional surgical internship with the emphasis on vascular surgery. Dr. Rogers peer reviews journal articles about atherosclerosis.
