Complements of Possibility indicates whether someone is able to do something or a condition permits an act to take place.
It positioned after the verb, is used to indicate ability, capability, possibility, and feasibility. There are 3 forms:
- It consists of the structural particle 得 and a verb or adjective.
- V.+得了liǎo / V.+不了liǎo
It means to be able to, and it is used in spoken language.
- V.+不得
It means cannot or should not. It is often used in the sense that something should not be done because of its detrimental consequence.
