あらすじ・解説
The eternal struggle is fought here between what is genuinely cool and timeless for every generation versus those things that are pure nostalgia and only seem great because of your childhood memories. Whether it’s Ghostbusters, Star Wars, James Bond, Super Mario, Star Trek, or Marvel Comics vs DC, we cover all our favorite things from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s. After each of us present an item related to the episode’s topic, the group votes to decide whether it is still Cool or Just Nostalgic.
Every two weeks we’ll bring a theme to the episode that Jeffrey, Michael, Andy, and Mike will have to present a topic for voting related to that theme. We will state our case on things like Nintendo, Retro Arcades, Throwback Songs of the 70s, 80, 90s, and early 2000s, or even cars from film and television. Will we sway to others to believe our topic is still cool? Or will they vote that our love for it is simply nostalgia?
This week, we cover some of our favorite and most hated retro video games from our child hoods. Whether it’s the best fighting games of the 80’s and 90’s, Ninja Turtle cartoons, or souped-up motorcycles known as crotch rockets, it’s time to dissect what video games are still cool today. What makes an arcade game stand the test of time and still be cool across generations? Why are new video games being released today returning to that retro look and feel of the classic side-scrolling game? And why do Mike and Jeffrey argue so much? All this and more as we discuss some of our favorite classics of the arcade and home consoles.
