Graduated high school early, studied engineering, then trained as a pilot in the USAir Force. Became a doctor on the GI Bill, serving in Korea and Vietnam before practicing in Ohio. Moved to Arizona to teach and practice medicine, later working in Saudi Arabia to develop military hospitals. Joined emergency medical teams during Desert Storm. Returned to Arizona and focused on hospital management and on research in crash injury, heat stress, and emergency medicine. A respected figure in the medical field, with findings used globally.
