  • Every girl needs a tall bestie, right?

    That’s where I come in!

Hosted by a tall girl named India, A Tall Girl’s Podcast is a podcast dedicated to helping (t)all girlies feel comfortable in their own skin and live their best lives. Growing up tall has taught me a thing or two (or maybe three) about embracing my individuality and finding the good things in what’s seemingly bad. And I’m here to spill the beans!

Join me every Thursday for self-confidence tips, funny stories, my journey through life, and (of course) tall girl problems! Oh, and fun fact, you don’t have to be tall to tune in ;)

Tall Girl Stereotypes episode: Are Tall Women Too Masculine? | The Truth About Tall Girl Stereotypes -- https://www.spreaker.com/episode/are-tall-women-too-masculine-the-truth-about-tall-girl-stereotypes--61316039

Today we’re talking about being tall AND black (especially darker-skinned) as a woman. This topic has been brought up in my DMs and my comments over the past few days. I did plan on speaking about this topic at a later time; however, because of the recent requests, I just took this as a sign to do this now.

Just a few quick disclaimers that are bulleted:
    • I identify as Black and I am mostly black genetically. While I am mixed, I am most in touch with my Black side so I do say I am Black.
    • While I do face some of the struggles of being a Black woman, I do acknowledge that colorism exists. If you didn’t know, I am a light-skinned woman. I am light with light-colored eyes, so I am aware that there are times when I’m treated differently because of how I look.
    • This episode will discuss slavery. If this is a sensitive topic for you, DO NOT tune in to this episode. Protect your peace babes.

“Being tall and Black isn’t for the weak.” “People give so much hate to tall, dark-skinned girls.” These are some of the comments and messages I’ve received over the past few days. And now’s the time to address them.

The way that people act towards us is largely due to the stereotypes given to both Black women AND tall women. What are these stereotypes? And how does it affect how people see tall, Black women? Tune in to the full episode to find out!

  • Big Shoe Brands Are Coming Up Short | Why We Need More Extended Size Shoe Brands ft. Founder of Trèsolz Judy Stewart
    2024/11/07
We have a very very special guest with us today: Judy Stewart from Trèsolz!

Trèsolz is a brand that’s on a mission to provide women with larger feet with stylish and affordable footwear options. Just like with having long legs, long arms, and a longer torso, having larger sized feet can make it very difficult to find shoes in the styles that we want in the size that we need. Bigger brands often go up to a size 10 or 11 and barely go past that, leaving women with feet in a size 12 and up struggling to find footwear options that work for them.

The founder, Judy Stewart, faced this struggle herself. As a woman with a wide size 10.5 foot, she struggled with finding good quality, stylish shoes, often having to deal with frumpy, poor quality selections. And when she did find styles that she liked that were also good quality, the price was extremely high or the shoe itself was uncomfortable. After struggling for years, she decided to start Trèsolz and now helps other women across Canada and beyond feel beautiful in their shoes, no matter their size.

Tune in to the full episode to learn more about Judy’s journey to starting Trèsolz, why brands don’t make extended sizes for tall women, how footwear affects your confidence, and more!

**And don't forget to check Judy out on Dragons' Den (if you're in Canada on CBC) at 8 pm EST***

  • Why Does The Media Make Tall Women The VILLAINS? | The Villain Stereotype Explained

    Happy Happy Halloween everyone!

If you’re watching the video version of this episode, I do have a little costume on lol. Quite literally just a little witch hat. But that’s the most I’ve done in years! Fun fact, I haven’t dressed up for Halloween since middle school; in recent years, I’ve literally printed out a picture of the map of India and taped it on my shirt. Get it? India the person dressing up as India the country? Clever, right?
But this year I wanted to try so I literally bought a little witch hat lol.

Make sure you stay safe out there this Halloween!

Today’s episode is actually fitting for today. If you’re a tall girl and you need a last minute costume, just be a villain or monster. It’s perfect. Okay, that sounded wrong - hear me out because I have a quick take:

    Tall women are monsters.

Tall women are scary. Tall women are evil. This is what the media wants us to think by primarily casting tall women as villains in movies, especially Disney animated films. My question to you is: Have you ever noticed that in quite a few animated Disney movies, the woman villains tend to be on the taller side while the princesses and woman protagonists are on the shorter side? Are you seeing a pattern or am I just bugging?

No tea, no shade to Disney movies or any other movies!! This is just my personal opinion.

So, how did this topic come about? How is this affecting tall girls? Tune in to the full episode for more!
