  • Welcome to the “Blood, tears and a bigmoose” podcast. I'm Mark - a mildly overweight middle aged man - or MOWMAM for short (more on that later..). I'm your host and I'll take you through the trials and tribulations of the bigmoose Castle2castle cycling challenge. I'm joining a fab team of about 50 other riders from all over - Australia, New Zealand, Canada, USA, Netherlands and the UK and already, we've all become close enough to talk about our poor preparation, where we can hire an electric bike, and which is the best bum cream to soothe the chafing in those intimate areas that 200 miles on a bike seat tends to cause - apparently there's loads of different types of 'bum butter' out there - who knew...?? The challenge itself is not just about the ride, we have each committed ourselves to raising £1000 each for the fantastic charity 'bigmoose'. A team that exists to support better mental health - for more on the team, check out the link in the show notes to every episode. If you're already motivated to donate - go over to my justgiving page by using the easy to remember link - ' www.donatetomark.online ' and donate what you can - this link will be there on every episode.. yep, I'm making it really easy to part with your money..! - easy to remember - www.donatetomark.online .. Come and subscribe to the podcast - I'll bring you along with me, introduce you to the team and we'll tell you our reasons for doing the challenge - many of us have our own experiences with mental health difficulties, either personally or through friends and family and we all want to help break the stigma of silence. Everyone deserves better mental health, but often in darker moments, we struggle to see that. ..and if nothing else, youll probably witness a bunch of poorly prepared, well meaning people get reduced to broken blubbering wrecks.. maybe that's worth a listen..? So.. don't forget - donate using the easy to remember link - www.donatetomark.online !

  • Let me tell you about Kinging-It...!
    2024/08/11

Let me tell you all about Craig and Aimee, otherwise known as Kinging-It, our champions for this challenge. In the last episode, you'll have heard us say how they've helped others with their mental health (probably without knowing it) and how they inspired so many people from all over the world to come together for the Castle2castle Cycle Challenge in Wales UK to raise money for the excellent charity 'bigmoose'. If you've just joined us for this episode, have a listen to episode one to learn all about bigmoose.

Craig and Aimee aren't just adventurers and travel enthusiasts, they have a heart for making a difference. Through their popular blog and YouTube channel, they share their global adventures with a funny and down to earth touch. However, what truly sets them apart is their commitment to charity challenges. Craig and Aimee have taken on some daunting and unconventional challenges, all in the name of raising awareness and funds for causes close to their hearts. From completing the grueling Mongol Rally—an epic 10,000-mile journey across mountains, deserts, and steppe—to participating in other daring escapades like riding motorbikes through Vietnam, their adventures are as much about giving back as they are about exploration. Their charity challenges are a testament to their belief that travel can be a force for good, inspiring their followers to support various charitable causes and embrace the spirit of adventure for a purpose.

Craig and Aimee's "Wheelie Bin Challenge" is one of their weirdest and most memorable charity endeavors. The idea was as simple as it was absurd: push a standard household wheelie bin down through the length of Wales - one sat in it, the other pushing it.. Despite the challenge's inherent difficulties—navigating narrow roads, dealing with the unpredictable weather, and the sheer discomfort of riding in a bin—Craig and Aimee faced it all with their trademark humor and determination. The "Wheelie Bin Challenge" was not just about the laughs; it was a creative way to raise money and awareness for a cause they deeply care about, bigmoose Their dedication to turning even the most bizarre ideas into meaningful charitable efforts continues to inspire us to think outside the box when it comes to making a difference.

Now.. less about Kinging-It and more about me, the challenge and the charity (sorry, lads).. Help me to raise £1000 for the bigmoose charity.. check out the links below...
