The Conemaugh Valley Detachment #287 of the The Marine Corps League will mark the 80th anniversary of the flag raising atop Iwo Jima, on Saturday, Feb. 22.

The ceremony will be held in Franklin Borough at 1100 at the Sgt. Strank Memorial Park, named after Marine flag raiser Michael Strank. Michael Strank lived in Franklin before joining the Marines to serve during WWII.

We Talk With Windber Police Chief, Andrew Frear About Protecting Our Elderly From Scams.

We often hear stories about frantic phone calls to our parents and grandparents asking for money for a family member in need to any other excuse.

Windber Police Chief Andrew Frear talked to us about these scams, how to protect yourself, and what to do if you have been targeted. He also chatted about his day to day work as Windber Police Chief.

In the first three years, The Windber Hotel Yappy Hour Fundraiser has raised $18,000 for the Somerset county humane society, thanks to generous community support and donations.

This year, the event will be helping the Somerset County Humane Society and the Seven Hearts Project.

Bo Moore, who will be performing at the event, spoke with Jamie Crum from The Seven Hearts Project and Becky Piscitelli about the event and the work of these local animal organizations.

Larry the Cable Guy has released seven comedy albums, starred in several films, and appeared in Disney’s “Cars” franchise as the voice of “Mater.” He is the Git-R-Done Foundation, which has donated more than $7 million to various charities.

This Saturday, February 1st, is the 25th Anniversary Concert for Jazz In Your Face!

The event features the Big Band and local students performing big band jazz and full orchestral arrangements.

Ethan Borischak , an 18 year old from Johnstown won big on the Price Is Right!

He won a $35,000 car and $35,000 cash.

He went to the legendary show with his family and we got to chat with his mom, Helen, about the experience.

PA Woods and Forests is a local non-profit organization that focuses on the conservation of many different plants and animals.

The group has produced content for online and traveled all throughout the area teaching about frogs, toads, and other animals.

Bowling4Backpacks is Sunday, January 26th at 814 Lanes and Games in Johnstown from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This event is open to all ages!

There is also a basket raffle and 50/50!

Money raised goes to The Cambria County Backpack Project. They provide weekend meals to students in our area.
