Maura Cook, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Development, United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut joins us to remind everyone tax season is fast-approaching and VITA is a crucial resource for individuals needing help in these econonomic times. María Nuñez, an incoming United Way board of directors member and a previous VITA filer and volunteer shares her experience with this service from both sides of the table. Danira Martel, Coordinator and Financial Opportunity Center from The Village for Families & Children shared that 13,000 households were able to be helped by VITA last year. To schedule an appointment to use VITA services, use the contqact information here: - In the greater Hartford, Enfield, Tolland and Windham regions, taxpayers can visit 211ct.org/taxhelp to confirm their eligibility and to book their appointment at a time and location most convenient to them. - In the greater New Britain-Berlin region, qualifying taxpayers can visit hranbct.org/vita to confirm their eligibility and to book their appointment at a time and location convenient to them.
