    I hit up both angles when you don’t have it and when you do! Buyers today are making the calls to dealers and asking the questions like, “What’s your market adjustment? How much is it? What do I get for that?”

    Know what you are going to say in your reply. Be friendly and empathic in your words and tone. We are all dealing with inflation and it sucks. No one is happy about it. And we have to explain a bit more so we get buyers on board!

Half the time the car they are inquiring about is in fact ready to be sold! Either way, teams must be prepared to serve of what we CAN do and not what we can’t do.

    When you use the word “discount” to get people on board you are actually devaluing your credit, your abilities, your skills, your self worth and confidence…you are devaluing YOU, the main part of the decision making process.     Mike Maroone served as the President and COO & Director of AutoNation from 1997 to 2015. While he served, he oversaw the operations of the largest automotive retailer in the United States, which operates over 300 locations across the country. After retiring from AutoNation, Mike continued to be involved in the automotive industry and recently bought dealerships in the state of Colorado while serving on the board of directors for several companies.
