We’d like to introduce you to a new podcast. It’s called Different. But why different?

You know how when you’re wearing sunglasses it puts a tint on everything? Or if you wear glasses you see some things in focus and others out of focus?

Well, we all have lenses on the inside of our head too. And they tint, colour and shape everything we see, think and understand.

So, on this podcast Steve Chalke and Jill Rowe are going to dive headlong into just that as they discover a new ‘meaning making’ story and embrace a fresh way of thinking about life, the universe and everything in-between.

They will talk about getting to a place where we see our lives as part of something bigger than our day-to-day experience - becoming a part of an unfolding story. Finding joy in ordinary moments, facing failure and struggle and discovering liberation and purpose.

They’ll also discuss experiencing life as a gift and learning how to live on purpose. They’ll be peering into dark nights of the soul and finding hope. And simply learning how we are here to walk each home.

We hope you enjoy these conversations – discovering a new story and embracing new thinking.

  • The one about pressure and the crucible of life
    2025/06/04

In this episode of the Different podcast, Jill Rowe and Steve Chalke talk all about distress, you-stress and de-stress. This episode is all about pressure. We discuss how it shows up in our bodies, its physiological impact.

We think about what we can do when it feels like it is all becoming too much. We even talk about tears. We reflect on the story and power of wilderness and how the pressure of a wilderness can be an invitation that can mould and shape us into the very kind of people we long to be more compassionate, more present, more humble.

We pray that this episode helps you as you navigate pressure and the crucible that life can be.

  • The one all about blame!
    2025/05/21

In this episode of the Different podcast, Jill Rowe and Steve Chalke talk all about blame. We can all jump to blame so easily, and we find it hard to take responsibility when we've done something wrong and say sorry.

Blame is a shortcut. In this episode, we pay attention to the power of self reflection, self awareness, self compassion, and the decision of forgiveness. This was a super honest and, we hope, helpful conversation.

There's plenty of joy in this one too.

  • Adolescence. Love. T-I-M-E.
    2025/05/07

In this episode of the Different podcast, Jill Rowe and Steve Chalke about our response to the TV series 'Adolescence'. We discuss how all young people spell love T-I-M-E.

It's the most precious commodity we can ever give to a child. Along with our presence, we see that understanding what is happening physiologically in a young person helps us to know more full fully what and how we need to be in their orbit.

And we see that being involved and engaged with them through our time and our presence builds a protective layer. It's not a magic formula, but it gives a much stronger foundation. From simple ideas to important insights.

This conversation was so rich. We pray it helps you as you navigate all the wonder and complexity of life together.
