HouseHealing The Wound (Part 1)Jon FredricksToday's Scripture: Matthew 18:21-35 NIV__________ Matthew 18:21-35 NIV21 Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?”22 Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.23 “Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. 24 As he began the settlement, a man who owed him ten thousand bags of gold was brought to him. 25 Since he was not able to pay, the master ordered that he and his wife and his children and all that he had be sold to repay the debt.26 “At this the servant fell on his knees before him. ‘Be patient with me,’ he begged, ‘and I will pay back everything.’ 27 The servant’s master took pity on him, canceled the debt and let him go.28 “But when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred silver coins. He grabbed him and began to choke him. ‘Pay back what you owe me!’ he demanded.29 “His fellow servant fell to his knees and begged him, ‘Be patient with me, and I will pay it back.’30 “But he refused. Instead, he went off and had the man thrown into prison until he could pay the debt. 31 When the other servants saw what had happened, they were outraged and went and told their master everything that had happened.32 “Then the master called the servant in. ‘You wicked servant,’ he said, ‘I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to. 33 Shouldn’t you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?’ 34 In anger his master handed him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he should pay back all he owed.35 “This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart.” Matthew 4:1-10 NIVThen Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2 After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. 3 The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”5 Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. 6 “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written:“‘He will command his angels concerning you,and they will lift you up in their hands,so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’”7 Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’”8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’” Matthew 18:21-22 NIV 1) WE FORGIVE BECAUSE WE HAVE TASTED ITMatthew 18:26-27 NIV Luke 23:34 ESVAnd Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” And they cast lots to divide his garments. Luke 7:47 NIVTherefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—as her great love has shown. But whoever has been forgiven little loves little.” 2) WE FORGIVE BECAUSE WE HAVE A CALLINGMatthew 18:33 NIV Colossians 3:13 NIV13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 2 Corinthians 2:7 NIVNow instead, you ought to forgive and comfort him, so that he will not be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. 3) WE FORGIVE BECAUSE WE HAVE THE RESPONSIBILITYMatthew 18:35 NIV Matthew 6:14-15 NIV14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. 4) WE FORGIVE BECAUSE WE POSSESS THE ABILITYMatthew 16:19 NIV

HouseConflict!Jon FredricksToday's Scripture: Genesis 4:1-8 NIV__________ Genesis 4:1-8 NIVAdam made love to his wife Eve, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Cain. She said, “With the help of the Lord I have brought forth a man.” 2 Later she gave birth to his brother Abel. Now Abel kept flocks, and Cain worked the soil.3 In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the Lord. 4 And Abel also brought an offering—fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The Lord looked with favor on Abel and his offering, 5 but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast.6 Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? 7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”8 Now Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let’s go out to the field.” While they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him. Genesis 2:18 NIV18 The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” Proverbs 27:17 NIVAs iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. 1) WHY ARE YOU ANGRY? WHY IS YOUR FACE DOWNCAST?James 4:2 NIVYou desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. Galatians 5:15 NIVIf you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other. John 21:21-22 NIV21 When Peter saw him, he asked, “Lord, what about him?” 22 Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me.” 1 John 4:7 NIV7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 2) WHERE IS YOUR BROTHER?Genesis 4:9 NIVThen the Lord said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?” “I don’t know,” he replied. “Am I my brother’s keeper?” Romans 12:4-8 ESV4 For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, 5 so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. 6 Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; 7if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching;8the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness. Ephesians 4:29 NIVDo not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. James 5:15 NIVAnd the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. James 5:16 NIVTherefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. 3) "WHAT IS RIGHT?"Genesis 4:7 NIVIf you do what is right, will you not be accepted? Matthew 5:9 ESV“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. Romans 12:18 ESVIf possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Matthew 5:38-39 ESV “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. Hebrews 12:14 ESV Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord. Leviticus 19:18 ESV You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord. Hebrews 12:1-2 NIV

    Experiencing Family...Alone

    Bobby Humes

    Today's Scripture: 1 Corinthians 7:32-35 MSG

    __________

    1 Corinthians 4:14 ESV

I do not write these things to make you ashamed, but to admonish you as my beloved children.

    1 Corinthians 7:32-35 MSG

I want you to live as free of complications as possible. When you’re unmarried, you’re free to concentrate on simply pleasing the Master. Marriage involves you in all the nuts and bolts of domestic life and in wanting to please your spouse, leading to so many more demands on your attention. The time and energy that married people spend on caring for and nurturing each other, the unmarried can spend in becoming whole and holy instruments of God. I’m trying to be helpful and make it as easy as possible for you, not make things harder. All I want is for you to be able to develop a way of life in which you can spend plenty of time together with the Master without a lot of distractions.

    1) PRACTICE PRIORITY

    Matthew 6:33 ESV

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

    James 4:8 ESV

Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

    2) PRACTICE GROWING AS PART OF THE BODY

    Ephesians 4:15-16 ESV

15 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, 16 from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.

    Romans 12:4-8 ESV

4 For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, 5 so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. 6 Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; 7 if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; 8 the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.

    3) PRACTICE BEING THE CHURCH

    1 Corinthians 12:24-27 ESV

But God has so composed the body, giving greater honor to the part that lacked it, 25 that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. 26 If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together. 27 Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.

    1 Thessalonians 5:9-11, 14 ESV

9 For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him. 11 Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.

14 And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all.

    Acts 2:44-47 ESV

44 And all who believed were together and had all things in common. 45 And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. 46 And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.
