  • Operation Phoenix Outdoors: Combating the Effects of Combat Stress
    2024/08/26

Pat Lopez of Operation Phoenix Outdoors shares what it means to give back. They do this by bringing Military, Veterans, First Responders, and their families on hunting and fishing trips to facilitate fellowship, friendships, healing and hope. Their goal is to help ease the transition from military to civilian life, reduce stress, reconnect families, build friendship/healthy relationships, talk about alcohol dependency and broken families…ultimately enable conversation and relationships that help combat the 22 veteran suicides a day. Additionally, we bring youth on their first hunts. We teach safety, ethical hunting, and the responsibilities of an outdoorsman/woman. They break down barriers/physical limitations that prevent heroes from enjoying the outdoors. And they bring heroes on their last hunting/fishing trips “bucket list trips” due to terminal illness…give them their last great memory of the outdoors.

  • Heroes' Harvests: Outdoor Experiences as Therapy
    2024/01/09

Heroes' Harvests mission is to provide our nation’s service members, to include active duty military members, reserve, national guard, veterans, and Gold Star families, a dynamic therapeutic environment through exclusive hunting, fishing, and outdoor experiences. They also directly support our community members, in conjunction with outfitters across different states, for transitioning service members who seek a career in the outdoor industry.
In addition to their outdoor events, we facilitate the Wilderness Guide Training Program; which recognizes the value of military service. It empowers veterans through basic and advanced learning opportunities, preparing each individual with the necessary skills to succeed in a new professional role. A natural intersection exists between the therapeutic benefits of the outdoors and the continuing need for trained professional guides in the outfitting industry.
