This is the State of California, Doug Sovern is off today. It's been a record-setting week here in the Bay Area and all across the state, as soaring temperatures have smashed previous highs and a heat warning for much of the region has been extended through the weekend. At least three Bay Area communities—San Rafael, Napa and Jose—met or surpassed previous October temperature records. And not even coastal areas have been spared—as San Francisco managed to hit a whopping 95 degrees on Wednesday, marking the hottest October day in nearly three decades, and one of the city's top ten hottest since weather records begin back in 1874. For a closer look, KCBS Radio's Patti Reising and Bret Burkhart spoke with Dial Hoang, Meteorologist for the National Weather Service serving the Bay Area.
