I love films, and my DVD / Blu-ray collection is forever growing. I pick up films all the time from charity shops, second hand from Facebook market place, and other places, picking up bundles at a time. However, it is growing at a rate that is definitely quicker than the speed at which I can watch them and so I now have a collection 100's of titles (and growing) that I still haven't got around to watching. And so, in this podcast series, I will be picking out a title each week and watching them for the first time, giving a little insight into each title and then a brief review.

This is a spin off from the WN MOVIE TALK PODCAST so if you enjoy this series, you have to check that one out for loads of hour long, in-depth and often hilarious movie discussion and analysis - available on most good podcast platforms

  • A NIGHT TO REMEMBER (1958)
    2025/01/29

In this week's episode of Films I Own But Haven't Watched Yet, I delve into my ever-expanding DVD collection and dig out a random title to watch for the first time and review based on that first viewing. Today's title is the tragic classic depicting the fatal voyage of Titanic, "A Night to Remember"!

A Night to Remember (1958): Directed by Roy Ward Baker, "A Night to Remember" is a historical drama that meticulously recounts the harrowing story of the RMS Titanic's ill-fated maiden voyage. Based on Walter Lord's 1955 book of the same name, the film offers a detailed and realistic portrayal of the events leading up to and following the ship's collision with an iceberg on April 14, 1912.

The narrative focuses on the experiences of the passengers and crew, highlighting the acts of bravery, panic, and confusion that unfolded as the "unsinkable" ship met its tragic end. Featuring Kenneth More as Second Officer Charles Lightoller, the film captures the human drama and the myriad personal stories amidst the larger catastrophe. Praised for its accuracy and attention to detail, "A Night to Remember" remains one of the most respected cinematic representations of the Titanic disaster.

Join me as I experience "A Night to Remember" for the first time and share my initial thoughts on this gripping and poignant film!

  • TRUE ROMANCE (1993)
    2025/01/22

The Films I Own But Haven't Watched Yet is a spin-off podcast series from WN MOVIE TALK PODCAST (which you should definitely check out). Each week, I randomly select a title from the ever-growing list of DVDs that I own but haven't watched yet, then I watch it and give my first thoughts. Today's choice is one that I have watched but not since it first released, and that is Tony Scott's Tarantino-penned movie "True Romance"

True Romance (1993): Directed by Tony Scott and written by Quentin Tarantino, "True Romance" is a stylish and violent crime romance film that follows the story of Clarence Worley (Christian Slater) and Alabama Whitman (Patricia Arquette). Clarence, a comic book store clerk, meets and falls in love with Alabama, a call girl, during a whirlwind weekend. After marrying her, Clarence decides to confront her pimp, Drexl (Gary Oldman), which sets off a chain of events that plunges the couple into a dangerous world of crime and chaos.

They come into possession of a suitcase full of cocaine and decide to sell it in order to start a new life together. However, their plan quickly spirals out of control as they are pursued by both the police and the mob. With a star-studded cast that includes Dennis Hopper, Val Kilmer, Brad Pitt, and Christopher Walken, "True Romance" is known for its sharp dialogue, memorable characters, and intense action scenes.

Join me as I revisit "True Romance" for the first time since its release and share my fresh impressions!

Lucky Number Slevin (2006): Directed by Paul McGuigan, "Lucky Number Slevin" is a stylish and twisty crime thriller that keeps audiences on the edge of their seats.
