    Welcome to the FOGS Queenslander Podcast Episode 34!

    In this episode, our host Mark Braybrook is joined by FOG #54 Michael Hancock, a dynamic winger whose speed, strength, and determination made him a key player in the Brisbane Broncos' golden era.

    Born in Stanthorpe, Queensland, Michael was a foundation player for the Broncos, debuting in 1988 and going on to play 274 games for the club. He was a key figure in Brisbane’s first five Grand Final victories, winning premierships in 1992, 1993, 1997 (Super League), 1998, and 2000. At the time of his retirement from Australian rugby league, he held the Broncos’ club record for most career appearances.

    On the representative stage, Michael played 14 times for Queensland in State of Origin and 13 Tests for Australia, proving himself as a fearless competitor in the toughest arenas. He later finished his career in England with the Salford City Reds, retiring in 2002.

His tireless effort and defensive resilience were instrumental in Brisbane’s 2006 NRL Premiership victory, and he remained a key figure throughout his career.

    Though best known as a lock and second-rower, David’s adaptability saw him play across multiple positions, including centre and five-eighth. His reliability earned him a State of Origin call-up for Queensland in 2006, a proud moment in his career.

    Born in Innisfail, Queensland, Kerry made history when he became the youngest player ever selected for the Australian Kangaroos, a testament to his incredible talent and speed. Over a career spanning more than a decade, he played for Eastern Suburbs, Manly-Warringah, Hull Kingston Rovers, and North Sydney, leaving a legacy as one of the game’s greatest try-scorers.

    Kerry’s impact at the representative level was just as remarkable. He played 9 times for Queensland, scoring 8 tries, and represented Australia in 25 Test matches, crossing the line 15 times for his country. He was also part of the early years of State of Origin, helping to shape the legendary rivalry between Queensland and New South Wales.

Known as "Boxhead", Steve was a cornerstone of the Canberra Raiders' dominance in the late 1980s and 1990s, playing a pivotal role in the club’s first three premiership victories.

    Born in Rockhampton, Queensland, Steve’s career was defined by toughness, skill, and leadership. He played 299 first-grade games, the majority with the Canberra Raiders, before finishing his career with the North Queensland Cowboys and Newcastle Knights.

    On the representative stage, Steve was a key figure for the Maroons, making 14 State of Origin appearances from 1990 to 1996. He also proudly wore the green and gold of Australia, representing the Kangaroos in 15 international matches. In 1997, he featured in both the Queensland and Australian Super League teams.

His versatility as a loose forward and centre saw him shine across multiple teams, including the Gold Coast Seagulls, North Queensland Cowboys, and several Super League clubs, such as the Castleford Tigers, Leeds Rhinos, and Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.

    Adrian also earned the honor of representing Queensland in the State of Origin in 1994 and proudly donned the Scotland jersey in 2000, demonstrating his passion and talent on the international stage.
