このコンテンツについて

Welcome to Forgotten Cinema! Each episode, Mike Field and Mike Butler highlight a film that for a variety of reasons was forgotten by audiences. Whether it be because a more popular movie was released at the same time or the movie simply didn’t catch on with an audience in the its initial run. We’ll discuss what we love about the movie or perhaps don’t love about it and decide whether the movie is worth a revisit.℗ & © 2024 Forgotten Cinema アート

  • Burn After Reading
    2019/11/06

Mike Butler and Mike Field have survived Forgotten Horror and begin this third season of Forgotten Cinema with a Coen Brothers film and their very first guest! Andrew Morgan from the awesome podcast, the NOMcast!

Andrew and the Mikes are talking Burn After Reading, starring John Malkovich, Frances McDormand, George Clooney, Brad Pitt...the list goes on and on. Our three podcasters discuss what draws such talent to the likes of the Joel and Ethan Coen. The amount of detail put into their scripts, the use of vignettes in telling many of their stories. The Mikes and Andrew also ruminate on why this film, despite the great cast and how funny it is, doesn't get put on the pedestal that most Coen Brothers films do.

So grab your popcorn, and soda, please notice the exits at the front and rear of the auditorium, and settle down for Forgotten Cinema.

And be sure to check out Andrew Morgan in the NOMcast, available wherever you listen to your podcasts!

  • The Blob (1988)
    2019/11/13

What happened to you old Nickelodeon Gak? Find out on this episode of Forgotten Cinema as the Mikes take on the 1988 remake of The Blob, starring Kevin Dillon and Shawnee Smith.

Mike Field and Mike Butler talk about their love of the use of practical effects in this remake of the 1958 horror classic. The Mikes also discuss how the proliferation of slasher flicks in the 80s might have killed any hopes of success that a sci-fi alien horror remake might have had back then. Kevin Dillons mullet is also mentioned more than once.

So grab your popcorn, and soda, please notice the exits at the front and rear of the auditorium, and settle down for Forgotten Cinema.

This episode was recommended by cinematographer and friend of the Mikes, Adrien Peng Correia. Thanks Adrien!
