Eternal life is the theme of all of Scripture, and what we discuss today is really one big application from the entire Bible. Christ gives abundant life and He wants us to be sure we know Him. In this chapter, Jones responds to two objections that are raised to having eternal assurance. We discuss the profound and practical aspects that allow us to confidently claim that we have this eternal life.

Assurance of salvation is not only something that is possible for every believer, it is what God intends for us. This is one of John’s great themes throughout this epistle, and he reiterates it here in 1 John 5:13, one of the most well-known verses on assurance. In this episode, we discuss the topic of assurance in general, break down this verse phrase-by-phrase, and offer some personal thoughts and reflections on eternal security and assurance. Today we look at the reasons for believing Jesus of Nazareth is the Messiah and the results of believing this. This follows right after the claim that was mentioned in 1 John 5:6-8 which we have discussed in the previous two episodes. As we look at the support behind this claim, we also get into what gives us confidence in our faith personally, and it all has to do with the testimony of Christ. Thanks for listening!
