    In the introductory episode of Good Finds - A Goodwill of the Heartland Podcast, host Brent Watkins takes listeners on a journey through the rich history of Goodwill Industries, uncovering little-known facts and sharing inspiring stories about its mission and impact.

    Did you know that Edgar J. Helms, the founder of Goodwill Industries, had roots in Iowa? Brent begins by exploring Helms’ visionary work in 1902, when he started collecting donated goods to repair and resell, providing employment and resources to those in need. This “hand up, not a handout” philosophy became the foundation for one of the world’s most impactful nonprofit organizations.
