  • Episode 5 - Bukit Batok West Avenue 8 | The Road I Don't Remember
    2022/06/18

Most of my conscious childhood was spent in Bukit Batok West. It’s where I went to school, and my closest family and friends lived. It’s been almost 10 years since I’ve moved out. And since then, the place has changed so much that I cannot recognize it. Whole neighbourhoods have sprouted up in a place that was literally grassland and forests. In this episode, I explore the road I do not remember being there.

  • Episode 4 - Pulau Saigon | The Lost Island within Singapore
    2022/06/04

Singapore is a small island, surrounded by other smaller islands. But did you know, we use to have an island within Singapore? It lay unassumingly along the Singapore River, and the roads surrounding it have diverted a bit but are largely still there. It might also be the origins of Bak Kut Teh!

  • Episode 2 - Waterloo Street
    2022/05/07

Waterloo Street is steeped in history, dating back to 1837. It is also one of the most diverse streets in Singapore, in more ways than one. It is one of commerce and residential, with office buildings and public housing. One part is a pedestrian street and the other caters to 2-way vehicular traffic. In over 184 years, how have its inhabitants and passerby viewed the space and kept up with its ever-changing facade?

  • Episode 1 - Cheong Chin Nam Road
    2022/04/23

Beauty World is better known to be as qit-goh, or 7-mile in Hokkien. It was also a place so familiar to my family as I was growing up, due to it being close to where my grandfather’s house was and was a site for family gatherings, shopping, and late-night suppers. However, I never quite remembered the street names. Unbeknownst to me, the whole area used to belong to 1 particular person. We track down his descendants and where they are now.
