Amy is an award-winning multimedia journalist and military combat veteran with more then 28 years of experience in storytelling, communications and multimedia content creation.
She’s worked as a TV anchor and host, a U.S. Marine Combat Correspondent and adjunct professor for a boutique international business school.
Her imagery and articles have been published on Fox News Channel, CNN, MSNBC, ABC News, Newsweek Magazine, Soldier of Fortune Magazine, Leatherneck Magazine, CENTCOM's Unipath Magazine and many other news outlets.
A native of Santa Rosa, California, Amy joined the U.S. Marines in 1993 and spent 8 years on active duty before transitioning to a successful career in the media industry where she created and produced a television program called "North County's Endless Summer" for KOCT and later worked as a reporter for NBC 7 San Diego. She was also hand-selected to anchor and report for The Pentagon Channel based in Alexandria, Virginia from 2003-2010.
She currently serves as the director of communications for Marine Corps Tactical System Support Activity (MCTSSA) at Camp Pendleton, California, where she manages the command’s public affairs and outreach efforts.
Amy also serves as a Public Affairs Officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve, advising and leading strategic communications activities and initiatives focused on the North Atlantic and Artic regions. She’s also the liaison to the NATO Joint Force command in Norfolk, Virginia. She served nearly 18 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, on active duty and in the reserves, as a combat correspondent with multiple deployments, including two deployments to Iraq and three to Afghanistan. Her tours also included positions with Joint Special Operations Command, U.S. Africa Command and as the DoD’s Media Bureau Chief on Guam for nearly five years.
Amy has been an adjunct professor responsible for creating curriculum and teaching social media tactics, organizational development and entrepreneurship at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels at California International Business University (CIBU). She is also a certified DoD instructor at Defense Information School (DINFOS), at Fort Mead, Maryland.
Amy is a global travel enthusiast and has been to more than 25 countries: Afghanistan, Argentina, Bahrain, Bahamas, Czech Republic, England, Germany, Iraq, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, Niger, Palau, Poland, Romania, Singapore, Spain, Sri Lanka, The Netherlands and Switzerland.
Amy holds a BA degree in communications from California State University at San Marcos, an MS in Global Leadership from University of San Diego and is a graduate of numerous courses from DINFOS. Amy resides in San Diego with her husband and their rescue dog, Schatzie, where they enjoy hiking local trails and golfing many nearby courses.
