  • The French Revolution: The Reign of Terror and the Rise of Napoleon
    2023/12/19

Greetings Podcast Listeners and welcome back to a new episode of History: From One Student to Another.

The Reign of Terror was an 11th-month period characterized by intense violence, mass executions by guillotine, purges of political opposition to the state, and widespread fear and intimidation. In this episode, we’ll look at The Reign of Terror and its successor– the Directory, and the Rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This episode will bring an end to a two-parter on the French Revolution... for now.

  • The French Revolution: The Transition from an Absolute Monarchy to a Constitutional Monarchy
    2023/12/12

Greetings Podcast listeners! After a long, unanticipated break, welcome back to a new episode of my Podcast! The upcoming episodes of my Podcast symbolise a new era for the Podcast— I will be shying away from focusing on the Cambridge GCSE and AS/A-Level curriculums as I am now studying at University! Instead, these episodes will look at a wider range of topics and events that have taken place throughout History.

The French Revolution was a decisive point in History, often cited as being the beginning of the global Age of Revolutions. In France, revolution saw the end of King Louis XVI’s absolute rule, with his execution. It paved the way for democracy, republicanism, and nationalism– but France was forced to endure a horrific Reign of Terror from 1793–94 and the revolution did not end there...

  • What was the British public's attitude towards War?
    2023/02/28

Greetings Podcast listeners! After a two-month break, welcome back to a new episode of History: From One Student to Another. In this episode, we will be looking at the question: what was the British public's attitude towards War? There are a few key angles we can use to look at this question; the Peace Ballot and attitudes towards the League of Nations, the Spanish Civil War, attitudes towards rearmament policies, and British public opinion.

  • How did the British prepare for the Second World War?
    2022/11/29

Greetings Podcast listeners! Welcome back to a new episode of Britain in 1919–1939. In this episode, we will be looking at how the British prepared for the Second World War.

After a relatively peaceful 1920s, the prospect of a second world war began to show itself in the 1930s. With conflict spouting from the rules of Benito Mussolini and Adolf Hitler, countries tried their best to avoid another costly war. Aside from a policy of non-involvement in the Spanish Civil War of 1936 to 1939, Britain and France embarked on a policy of appeasement in the 1930s.

Thank you for listening to this episode of History: From One Student to Another. I may be releasing more episodes for this series, but I can confirm there will be no new episodes in the month of December and at least the first week of January as the Podcast will be on a Christmas and New Year break. Follow my social media for news on when new episodes will be released.

  • The National Government and its response to the Great Depression in 1930s Britain
    2022/11/15

The period of time between 1929 and 1939 is sometimes referred to as ‘The Devil’s Decade’. Aside from the rise in extremism that took place during the decade, and the commencement of the Second World War, the beginning of the decade is marred by the Great Depression as the Wall Street Stock Market crashed following the post-war industrial boom of the iron and steel, construction, automobile and retail industries in ‘The Roaring Twenties’. In this episode on Britain from 1929 to 1939, I will be looking at the National Government and its response to the Great Depression in 1930s Britain.

Over the next couple of months, I will be self-studying Britain, 1919-1939. New episodes will be released every Tuesday!
