    To begin our new sermon series in Acts, called The Gospel Community, Bart takes us through Acts 2v14-41. Bart preaches on Acts 2:14-41, where Peter explains the pouring out of the Holy Spirit, Jesus' resurrection, and ascension. Peter's sermon shows that these events signify the last days before judgment day and that Jesus is the Christ, the king over all kings, and the lord before whom all enemies will bow. The crowd is cut to the heart, realising they killed the one who will judge them. Bart encourages us to respond to this message, to repent, and turn to God, promising forgiveness and the gift of the Holy Spirit. We are urged to come to Jesus, who can wash away our sins, and to live for him, empowered by the Holy Spirit.

    Bart talks about the importance of forgiveness in the Christian community. He explains that Jesus teaches us to forgive others as God has forgiven us, citing the parable of the king and his servant. The servant's enormous debt is written off by the king, but he fails to show the same mercy to a fellow servant who owes him a smaller amount. Bart highlights that our debt to God is vast and can only be paid by Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. He outlines four steps to forgiveness: recognising the debt, letting our heart go out to the offender, cancelling the debt, and aiming for reconciliation. Bart warns that unforgiveness can wreck churches and that Jesus' warning is clear: unless we forgive our brother or sister from our heart, our heavenly Father will treat us likewise.
