“What do you do if you’re speaking with a native speaker, and they think it’s rude to correct you, while you keep making mistake after mistake?”

You’re absolutely right — sometimes, it feels like people hesitate to correct us because they don’t want to seem impolite. But how can we improve if we don’t get the feedback we need?

In some cultures, offering feedback, even in casual conversations, is seen as helpful and encouraging. In others, correcting someone can be considered rude, making people reluctant to provide guidance — even when it would help us improve.

So how do we navigate this cultural difference and actively seek the corrections that are essential to mastering a new language?
