  • I'm With the Band, Man - Episode 043 - Florian Zeh Discusses Rodha's "Welter Through the Ashes"
    2025/06/09

Florian returns for the back-end of the conversation where he and I do a deep dive into all things 2014's "Welter Through the Ashes" by RODHA. We discuss everything that went into the album, how it built upon the "Raw" album that came before it to bring up to the next level, and what happened after the release of the album.

Having this conversation felt like I was hanging out in Hamburg in the mid 2010s and given the fly on the wall treatment to really experience everything that went into the construction of this seminal album.

It was a pleasure to have Florian on and we hope you enjoy the listen.

The two songs used in this episode are (obviously) taken from Welter Through the Ashes

    "Overloaded"

    "Welter Through the Ashes"

Fun fact - Florian said that not only is "Welter" his favorite RODHA track, it's actually his favorite song he's written for any of his musical projects. And I can see why because it's a real banger.

  • I'm With the Band, Man - Episode 041 - Thommy Browne Discusses Chime Hours' Self-Titled EP
    2025/05/26

We brought Thommy Browne back to discuss his criminally lesser-known project Chime Hours. This time around, instead of focusing just on the album, we actually dedicate the entire episode to a discussion of all things Chime Hours - find out how they formed, what their writing and recording was like, songs that didn't make the album, dissolution of the band, and so much more.

Thommy once again brought his straightforward and direct approach to the conversation but also brought in some humor and was a wonderful storyteller as he recalled all of the things that made Chime Hours so unique and interesting.

The two songs used in this episode are (obviously) taken from the Chime Hours EP

    "The Walking Man"

"Bad Music Is Killing Home Downloading"

Unfortunately, the CD is sold out but you can still get the album (and all the other amazing Noise Pollution releases) here:

  • I'm With the Band, Man - Episode 039 - Louis-Charles Berthiaume Discusses Never Hit Again's Sinkers
    2025/05/12

Louis-Charles was kind enough to come back and do a deep dive on the first album of any of his bands I ever heard - Never Hit Again's "Sinkers." We discuss self-releasing it as an album and everything that went into the creation of this album as a whole.

He went into some great details about the meaning behind some songs and where the lyrics came from as well as discussing the writing process that culminated into the production of this album.

As always, this is a solid conversation you won't want to miss.

  • I'm With the Band, Man - Episode 038 - Louis-Charles Berthiaume of Dead Alright / Never Hit Again
    2025/05/05

Our second Canadian on the show but our first from that mysterious, French-speaking province of Québec, Louis-Charles comes on the show to talk about punk rock changed his life and turned him into a lifelong musician.

We discuss how Louis-Charles is essentially a one-man band and the pros and cons of working collaboratively with other musicians in a room compared to the creative process on his own.

In what is sure to be a theme on the show, we also discuss the financial complexities of touring in the United States while also recognizing the strong influence of American music being exported into other countries.

Louis-Charles had some great stories and, as always, made this episode amazing and a must-listen.

The two songs used in this episode are:

Brand New Lungs - "Dirty Streets" from the LP Like Wildfire

Dead Alright - "Groundhog Day" from the LP Dancing Through the End Of Days

  • I'm With the Band, Man - Special Episode 037 - Chuck Coffey and Mike Taylor - Alt-Country/Americana
    2025/04/28

Chuck and I had so much fun time we did a special episode we decided to make it a thing. The plan is to do ~4 a year around holidays so consider this to be the "Easter" episode. For this episode, Chuck brought on his good buddy Mike Taylor of Hooper to help with the conversation.

This was a unique conversation for me because right up until about an hour before I hit record I was thinking I had absolutely no frame of reference to talk about alt-country or Americana but as the conversation unfolded, I realized I actually liked quite a bit.

These episodes are always fun because for me they're kind of edutainment - I'm learning new and exciting things while talking with some of my favorite people. It's a classic win/win. If you're either like me and you're always curious about scene-adjacent music or if you're already a fan and are looking to hear people riff about the music, check this one out.

It is always a treat to find a reason to get Chuck on the show to talk so we're privileged to get him back on and just talk shop for awhile. We sincerely hope you check out this unique episode.

I asked both Chuck and Mike to pick one song they felt was a good representative of alt-country/Americana and they each came up with:

Old 97's - "Timebomb" off the album Too Far To Care

Lucero - "Little Silver Heart" off their self-titled album Lucero

  • I'm With the Band, Man - Episode 036 - Jacob Brodovsky Discusses "I Love You and I'm Sorry"
    2025/04/21

Jacob came back to discuss all things related to his solo full-length "I Love You and I'm Sorry." He discusses where the songs came from, how he likes to sprinkle just a little bit of political nuance in his songs, and we even discuss the heartbreaking story behind the dog on the cover.Jacob brings heart and humor into his music with him and it was very interesting to discuss the songwriting process from someone that is essentially solely responsible for all of the songs and arrangements on the album. Our first trip up North was great and we hope to do it again soon!Check out Jacob on Instagram:@jacobbrodovsky@songsbydomandjacobAnd you can pick up physical editions of his EP and full-length here:https://jacobbrodovsky.bandcamp.com/https://www.jacobbrodovsky.com/Both songs from this episode were taken from "I Love You and I'm Sorry" (duh)Night BakerClass Of '99
