In today's episode. I would like to share something important. I'm taking a break for the first time since starting this podcast (four and a half years ago) as Ramadan is coming upon us and I'd like to focus on reflection and spirituality and getting closer to Allah (SWT) / God.

As I take this break of reflection during Ramadan, I know many of my Catholic friends are observing Lent, a time of introspection and growth for them as well.

I believe this is a crucial time for all of us to consider our own need for downtime, regardless of our background. Its battery charging and gaining clarity in our lives.

So, I hope you join me in think about how you can take time for yourself too.

Let's honour this collective moment of stepping back.

Regardless of our faiths, it's a chance for all of us to focus on what truly matters, recharge, and come back stronger.

    Love and Peace Always,

    Amber

    xoxo

  • 291, Mentorship in the Age of Fake Gurus: How to Find the Right Guide (Without Wasting Time or Money)
    2025/02/18

Today’s topic is extra personal to me: mentorship. As someone who has moved from the dental clinic to the boardroom—I know about success without sacrificing one’s sanity.

In a world where everyone’s a self-proclaimed ‘expert’ selling quick fixes, how do you find a mentor who’s actually qualified to guide you? Someone who won’t just take your money but invest in your growth? Spoiler: It’s not about the follower count or the flashy testimonials.

Today we break down why picking the wrong mentor can cost you more than cash—it can derail your confidence, time, and even your health—and how to spot the real deal. Let’s dive in.”

    The Cost of Fake Gurus

Let’s start with a hard truth: Bad mentorship is expensive. I’ve coached professionals who spent years—and thousands—on programs that left them more confused than when they started. One client, a brilliant dentist, nearly quit her practice after a ‘leadership guru’ told her to ‘just hustle harder’… while ignoring her burnout.

Fake mentors often peddle three myths:

‘One-size-fits-all’ formulas (ignoring your unique strengths).

‘Overnight success’ stories (that skip the messy, real work).

‘Sacrifice everything’ mentality (which tanks your health and relationships).

The result? Stalled careers, drained bank accounts, and a crisis of confidence. So how do we avoid this?” What Makes a Mentor ‘Right’?

A true mentor isn’t just someone who’s done something—it’s someone who can teach it, with empathy and evidence.

    Here’s my checklist:

    Credibility Beyond Instagram:

Do they have relevant expertise? A mentor shouldn’t just be a marketing whiz—creating virality they should understand nuances.

Look for certifications, peer recognition, or better yet, clients who’ve stayed with them for years.

    They Practice What They Preach:

    If not. Red flag.

They Care About Your Whole Success:

Its not just focussing on business goals—its about addressing health, mindset, and purpose. Because burnout isn’t a badge of honor.

    Transparency Over Hype:

Real mentors admit their failures. (Fun fact: I once led a team project that crashed spectacularly—it taught me more than any ‘win’ ever did.)”

How to Vet a Mentor—Without the Guesswork

    “Here’s my three-step system,

    1. Audit Their ‘Why’:

In your first conversation, ask: ‘What’s your philosophy on growth?’ If they can’t articulate it beyond ‘making money,’ walk away.

    2. Demand Science, Not Just Stories:

Evidence beats anecdotes. Ask potential coaches: ‘How do you adapt your approach to different personalities or challenges?’

    3. Test Drive Their Value:

    Most legit coaches offer a low-risk starting point—like a discovery call or a mini-workshop.

And if they pressure you to sign a $10k package on the first call? Run.”

    Let’s get practical.

    The 24-Hour Rule:

Never decide on a coach in the ‘high’ of a sales pitch. Sleep on it. Then ask: ‘Does this align with my values, or just my fears?’

Remember: A coach’s job isn’t to have all the answers—it’s to help you find yours.”

If you take one thing from today, let it be this: Your growth deserves a coach who sees you as a human, not a revenue stream.

And to the fake gurus? We’re onto you.

    Thanks for listening.

    Love and peace always,

    Amber

  • 289, Unlocking the Placebo Effect & Mind-Body Connection
    2025/02/04

Today, we’re diving into something truly fascinating—the power of belief and how your mind can heal your body.

Have you ever heard stories of people who took a sugar pill and suddenly felt better, as if they had taken real medicine? Or people who overcame serious illnesses just by changing their mindset? That’s not magic—it’s science. And today, we’re breaking down the placebo effect and the mind-body connection so you can start using this power in your own life.

🎧 By the end of this episode, you’ll walk away with real, actionable ways to harness the power of your mind for better health, more energy, and a life filled with unstoppable potential!

🧠 What Is the Placebo Effect?

The placebo effect happens when a person experiences real improvements in their health or symptoms—even though they were given a fake treatment, like a sugar pill, a saline injection, or even just words of encouragement.

💡 Think about that for a second. Your body reacts to a belief so strongly that it mimics the effects of real medicine. This means your thoughts, expectations, and mindset have the power to create real changes in your body. Isn’t that incredible?

In one famous study, patients with knee pain underwent a ‘sham’ surgery—where doctors made an incision but didn’t actually do anything. Guess what? Many of them still reported pain relief—because they believed they had the surgery! Their minds told their bodies to heal!

🔥 The Science Behind the Mind-Body Connection

Now, you might be thinking: "Okay, but how does this actually work?"

🧠 The brain and body are connected in ways we’re only beginning to understand. When you believe in something strongly, your brain releases powerful chemicals—dopamine, endorphins, and serotonin—that promote healing, reduce pain, and improve mood.

    Breakdown of How It Works:

✅ Your thoughts trigger your brain’s reward system.

✅ This releases healing chemicals that reduce stress, pain, and even inflammation.

✅ Your immune system responds, and your body begins to heal itself.

💡 The bottom line? Your thoughts don’t just stay in your head—they create real, measurable changes in your body.

🚀 How You Can Use the Placebo Effect in Your Life

Now the big question—how can YOU use this in your own life?

✨ 1. Start Your Day with a Powerful Belief

Every morning, tell yourself: "Today, my body is healing. I am strong. I am energized." Science shows that incantations (affirmations with focus and physiology) can rewire your brain for positivity and health.

    📝 2. Use Visualization Techniques

Elite athletes do this all the time. Before a big game, they visualize themselves winning. You can do the same—see yourself healthy, strong, and full of life.

😌 3. Reduce Stress Through Meditation & Deep Breathing

Stress weakens the immune system, but meditation literally changes your brain and promotes healing. Just 5-10 minutes a day can make a huge difference!

    💊 4. Trust the Process

Believe in your body’s ability to heal. The mind-body connection is strongest when you genuinely trust the process.

💬 Final Thoughts: The Power is in You

If there’s one thing I want you to take away from this episode, it’s this: Your mind is more powerful than you realize. The way you think, what you believe, and how you perceive your reality all shape your health and your future.

✨ The placebo effect isn’t just a trick of the mind—it’s proof that belief has the power to heal.

🙏 So I challenge you—start using this knowledge today. Shift your mindset, take control of your thoughts, and step into the healthiest, strongest version of yourself.

🎧 If this episode inspired you, share it with someone who needs to hear it! And don’t forget to subscribe for more powerful episodes that will help you unlock your full potential.

🚀 Until next time, keep believing, keep growing, and keep thriving!

    Thank you for tuning in.

  • 288, Biohacking and Wearables: Benefits, Risks, and the Future of Health Tech
    2025/01/28
Today I want to talk to you about a concept that’s fascinating, powerful, and, for some people, even life-changing. It’s called biohacking. Now, if you’ve never heard that word before, don’t worry. It simply means taking charge of your own health—your own biology—by using science, technology, and discipline to optimize how you live. And isn’t that what we all want? To live better, healthier, more productive lives? But as with anything, the tools we use to improve ourselves can either be a blessing or a curse. Today, I want to explore how one of the most popular tools in biohacking—wearables—can help us, or hinder us, depending on how we approach it. What is Biohacking? Biohacking, at its core, is about becoming a better version of yourself. It’s about saying, “I’m not just going to live by default, but by design.” Now, biohacking comes in many forms. Some of it is as simple as changing your diet—cutting out the junk and eating foods that nourish your body. Some people try intermittent fasting to give their system a break and unlock new energy levels. Others take cold plunges to strengthen their willpower and their immune system. And then there are these little devices—wearables—that have become incredibly popular. Fitbits, Oura Rings, Apple Watches… They promise to tell you how many steps you’ve taken, how many calories you’ve burned, how well you slept last night. In a way, they act like a personal coach, giving you constant feedback. But here’s the real question we have to ask ourselves: Are these tools helping us reach our goals, or are they distracting us from them? Are they empowering us to live better—or trapping us in a cycle of stress and dependency? Remember this key principle: Tools are only as effective as the mindset of the person using them. The Benefits of Wearables Let’s start with the good news, because wearables do have some incredible benefits when used wisely. First, there’s health awareness. How many of us really think about how much we move—or don’t move—throughout the day? A wearable can show you. It says, “Hey, you’ve only taken 2,000 steps today. Time to get moving!” And that’s a wake-up call for a lot of people. Then there’s prevention. These devices are getting so advanced, they can actually warn you about potential health problems. Imagine your watch saying, “Your heart rate is irregular—go see a doctor.” That’s not just convenient—it’s lifesaving. Next, wearables can help with motivation and accountability. There’s something powerful about seeing progress, isn’t there? You’re closing rings, hitting goals, watching your steps add up. It’s a reminder that small efforts, repeated daily, lead to big results. And finally, they offer customization. You’re not following someone else’s plan. You’re tracking your own journey, learning what works for you. That’s the beauty of technology—it allows us to tailor solutions to fit our unique needs. But—and here’s a big but—success with any tool depends on balance. And that’s where some people run into trouble. The Downsides of Wearables Now, let’s talk about the other side of the coin, because every tool has its limitations. One of the biggest dangers with wearables is data overload. Imagine this: You’re staring at your device, looking at all these numbers—steps, calories, sleep scores—and you don’t even know what to do with the information. It’s like trying to drink from a firehose. Too much information can leave you overwhelmed and stuck. Then there’s the risk of stress and obsession. Some people get so caught up in the numbers that they forget to enjoy life. “Oh no, I didn’t hit 10,000 steps today! I’m a failure.” My dear listeners, that’s not living—that’s being trapped by your own tool. And let me ask you something: How accurate do you think these devices really are? That’s the problem with accuracy issues. Are we making decisions based on solid information, or are we trusting flawed metrics? And here’s a big one: privacy concerns. Let’s not forget—every time we strap on one of these devices, we’re handing over personal data to big companies. Your heart rate, your sleep patterns, your location—where is all that information going? Who’s using it, and for what purpose? It’s a question we can’t ignore. The Psychological Impact Now, here’s something that I find fascinating—and a little troubling. These wearables can actually mess with our minds if we’re not careful. Have you ever heard of a “health guilt loop”? It’s when you feel bad about yourself because you didn’t hit your goals for the day. Instead of celebrating your efforts, you’re punishing yourself for falling short. That’s not a healthy mindset. And there’s a new term for something I think we’ll see more of: orthosomnia. It’s when people are so obsessed with tracking their ...

  • 287, Slow Mornings
    2025/01/21

Today we’re diving into the idea of slow mornings and the old proverb: “Haste is from the devil.” What does that phrase mean, and how can it transform your mornings—and maybe even your life

The Proverb "Haste Is From the Devil"

"Haste is from the devil" is an old adage that suggests rushing leads to mistakes, stress, and missed opportunities for reflection. In our fast-paced world, this ancient wisdom feels more relevant than ever. Haste often comes from fear of not having enough time. But when we rush, we don’t live fully in the moment. Instead, we’re consumed by what’s next."

    The Power of Slow Mornings

Slow mornings aren’t about laziness—they’re about intention. They allow you to anchor yourself before the chaos of the day begins. Think about it: when you wake up and immediately scroll your phone or rush to your first obligation, how does that feel? Compare it to starting your day with quiet time, gratitude, or even just a few deep breaths.

Studies show that intentional morning routines reduce stress, improve focus, and even enhance productivity throughout the day. It’s about creating space to think, to feel, and to simply be.

Practical Tips for Embracing Slow Mornings

    1. Wake Up 15 Minutes Earlier:
      • Set your alarm just a little earlier and use that time for yourself. Stretch, journal, or sip your coffee mindfully.
    2. Ditch the Phone:
      • Resist the urge to check emails or social media. Instead, spend those first minutes disconnected.
    3. Set Intentions for the Day:
      • Take a moment to write or think about one thing you’re grateful for and one thing you’d like to accomplish.
    4. Incorporate Rituals You Love:
      • Whether it’s reading, meditating, or simply enjoying a quiet breakfast, find what fills your cup.

    Why It Matters

The idea of haste being "from the devil" isn’t just about avoiding mistakes; it’s about reclaiming the beauty and depth of life. When we’re always rushing, we lose sight of the small, meaningful moments that make life rich.

So, take a moment to reflect: how do your mornings feel now? And how could slowing down transform them? Remember, the goal isn’t perfection—it’s progress.

Thanks for tuning in. If you enjoyed this episode, share it with someone who might need a reminder to slow down. Until then, remember: slow down, savour the moment, and make your mornings—and your life—matter., especially by helping others
