I speak with Shamanic Teacher and Healer Jez Hughes about shamanism, animism and learning from indigenous cultures who are raised in an animist culture - believing in the aliveness and connection between everything. We talk about how the Western world has lost its way, soul sickness and the leadership of the shaman - a role in service to the community, creating healing for people and reciprocity between people and the earth.

About Jez

Jez is the founder of Second Sight. He has studied shamanism intensively for twenty five years with various teachers, from both contemporary shamanism and indigenous elders across the globe.

He has a worked full time as a shamanic healer and teacher for nearly twenty years, treating thousands of people from the U.K and across Europe.

He works closely with the indigenous Wixarika (Huichol) nation of north central Mexico, as a cultural liaison for their work in the U.K. and also through a ten-year commitment to apprentice with the sacred sites and teachers of their land.

He is one of the founding directors of the Maye Takuta Foundation which is dedicated to the support and preservation of indigenous communities worldwide.

His own initiation involved a fifteen-year journey through various mental illnesses, physical convulsions and psychotic breaks before finding a cure in shamanism.

His passion is restoring connections to the ancestral lineages and land that has lost its traditions.

His work has featured all across the national press and on ITV television and BBC radio. He is the author of The Wisdom of Mental Illness- Shamanism, Mental Health & the Renewal of World and The Heart of Life- Shamanic Initiation & Healing in the Modern World.

I speak with Raffaello Manacorda about leadership, power and looking at life through an archetypal lens. We talk about how the current archetype of the 'strong man' is playing out on the world stage and themes around collective consciousness, integrity and projections of power onto those seemingly 'in charge'.

About Raffaello

Raffaello Manacorda is an international Tantra teacher and practitioner. He has been practicing Tantra for more than 15 years and has undergone intensive training in several styles of Yoga. After completing an MA in Philosophy, Raffaello decided to spend more than twelve years living in alternative communities and experimenting with radically alternative lifestyles.

It was in these wild years that he first encountered Tantra, the "rebel way to Spirit". This encounter developed into a life-long practice, first on a solo journey, then studying Tantra and Yoga in some of the best worldwide schools. Raffaello serves as lead faculty in ISTA, the International School of Temple Arts, and teaches and lectures worldwide. He is currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program in Wisdom Studies with Ubiquity University (California).

Raffaello is the co-creator of the ISTA Practitioner Training (PT), ISTA’s program for coaches and practitioners in the field of conscious sexuality.
