Whoever thinks he stands must be careful not to fall.
That's Paul's warning in 1 Corinthians 10:12. When Isaac remained faithful to God's commands, to stay in the land of promise and trust God to provide in the midst of famine, God blessed Isaac providing water and crops to Isaac and his household. But as time went on and Isaac grew old, the small seeds of favoritism he showed between his sons began to divide his household in ways he couldn't have imagined.
This week we begin reading Genesis 27 and see the state of Isaac's household as he approached the end of his life. We'll study how Isaac attempting to bless Esau instead of Jacob was an act of rebellion to God's will and how Rebecca and Jacob's scheming to steal the blessing instead of trusting God to work was an equal act of rebellion. But most importantly we'll learn how even when God's people are faithless, God remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.
