  • A Little-known Path To Success. Democratizing Access To Entrepreneurship Resources with Claudia Scott
    2024/09/10

Is it possible to make money doing what you are best at and what gives you joy? Yes. Can anyone become an entrepreneur? Yes. Does everyone begin the entrepreneurship race at the same starting line? Absolutely not.

Helping others turn their hobbies into profitable businesses isn't about sharing empty "you can do it" encouraging BS; it is about democratizing access to capital, resources, and knowledge.

In this episode, I'm thrilled to chat with Claudia Scott about what no one tells you about entrepreneurship. Claudia is the Capital Access Manager at Startup Junkie, assisting entrepreneurs with the Kiva microloan program processes. Born and raised in Costa Rica, Claudia came to the US chasing her dreams of getting into banking, but she found out rather quickly that wasn't her calling. Taking some time for introspection, she discovered the intersection between what she was good at, and what she was passionate about, helping people in non-profit settings.

Throughout this episode, you'll hear the truth about entrepreneurship no one tells you, Claudia's impressive work at Startup Junkie, and her passion for helping transform people with dreams into successful entrepreneurs. Claudia also talks about underrepresented entrepreneurs, success stories from people who changed their lives thanks to Startup Junkie, the impact of community and mentorship in entrepreneurship success, and much more.

Tune in to Episode 174 of the Joy Found Here and allow yourself to explore a fresh perspective on entrepreneurship that might change how you see your passions, hobbies, and profit opportunities.

In This Episode, You Will Learn:

    • A bit about Claudia, anywhere she'd like to start (4:10)
    • What are microloans and how can they change an entrepreneur's life (8:00)
    • Claudia talks about some of the cool things about working with Startup Junkie (15:20)
    • From digital to brick-and-mortar. Is it worth it? (27:00)
    • Claudia shares her thoughts on inclusion and diversity (32:40)

  • Boost Your Mental and Physical Well-being, Go for A Re-treat with Heather Wick
    2024/09/03

How long until you decide to stop operating from burnout?

Most of us have been programmed to care for everything and everyone before even thinking of caring for ourselves. Even though most women can operate like that for years or decades, there is only one thing waiting for them at the top of that hill: burnout.

In today's episode, we debunk the myth that "second parts were never good" with the inspiring Heather Wick. Heather is a Mom of three and a happily married Life Coach and Host Retreat. After traveling around the world with her family for 13 months, Heather reconnected with one of her old loves: coaching. Shortly after starting coaching again and putting together virtual and in-person retreats and workshops, she discovered that's where she feels she can show up most authentically in the world.

Throughout this episode, you'll hear about Heather's relationship with retreats, her initial resistance toward them, and the yoga retreat that produced a 180° change in her life. You'll also hear about the importance of asking for help, building healthy boundaries for ourselves and others, recognizing we are operating from burnout and much more.

Tune in to Episode 173 of the Joy Found Here and discover the revigorating power of taking a break to regroup that only retreats can give you.

In This Episode, You Will Learn:

    • Heather talks about her relationship with retreats and how they changed her (5:50)
    • We take for granted the amount of time we have (9:50)
    • Sometimes, we just need someone to call our BS out (19:30)
    • You can't read the label from inside the jar (26:00)
    • The utmost importance of boundaries (33:00)
