Jacek and John are business partners. Their falling-out was marked by a series of vicious verbal tirades by John against Jacek, who was already in fragile health. Jacek sues him for emotional distress. Can he do that? We looked at what the Judge did with this one. 2. Jacob isn't allowed into a concert; he's too drunk. So he stumbles back to his car and starts to drive home, causing a fatal accident on the way. The decedent's parents sue the Concert Promoter, claiming it had a duty not to let Jacob get behind the wheel. We played You Be the Judge with the inimitable Joey Bourgoin, producer for the day. Joey predicted, correctly, the outcome of the parents' claim against the promoter. 3. Keyboard warriors, beware: Sean and Beth got into an emotionally charged dispute on their Town's Facebook page. Beth called Sean a White Supremacist. Sean sued her for defamation. What happened to this claim at Court? We provided some juicy details, the outcome (from the Connecticut Supreme Court), and some words to the wise regarding this type of keyboard warfare. Listener calls: a listener engaged us in a discussion of what factors lawyers consider when advising a client whether to settle a personal injury case or take it to trial.
