The Blue Jackets conceded to the thin UFA D market and signed Ivan Provorov to an eye-popping contract extension, coming in at over 2 million more than Aaron Ekblad and over 4 million more than Dante Fabbro. I can understand why GM Don Waddell made this decision, but it's going to take some time to know just how bad or good this signing was for the team, as they are now set to run back the same defence as last season, despite claims of needing to upgrade on D.
