As we begin a new year, Curtis disusses the text, Isaiah 43:18-21, where the Lord declares that he is doing a new thing. This year we will be studying the book of Hebrews, beginning next week. The theme of the study is Jesus, He who never changes.

Text Hebrews 1:1-4.

We begin our study of the book of Hebrews with some introductory material on the book itself. This book is a rich study that shows how the Old Testament scriptures points to the New Law of the Spirit that opened with the life, death, and resurrection of the Son of God, Jesus Christ.

These first four verses of the text beautifully describe God's view of the timeline of His communication with humankind in this physical world. First, God spoke His will to the patriarchs (heads of families) and prophets so they could relay orally the word of God. Then God through Moses gave us a written law. And finally, God sent a Son to bring a law of the Spirit. Hebrews opens with God's perspective of Jesus as the final revelation of His will and word.

Jesus is unchanging and His name is supreme.

Text Hebrews 1:5-24.

A look at the role of faithful angels, those that did not follow Satan in that rebellion against God's sovereignty but remained faithful to God. God has charged these faithful angels with, among other tasks, ministering to humankind, especially the faithful Christians.
