Elisabeth R. Finch is an American television writer best known for her work on the series True Blood and Grey's Anatomy.

Finch gained public notoriety for her abrupt resignation from Grey's Anatomy, which was prompted by an investigation into a series of lies that she told about her personal and medical history.

Finch had altered her appearance to appear sick while working and used stories about her medical diagnoses to gain accommodations at work.

Finch also reportedly made allegations that her own brother abused her as a child.

The Death Smog of Donora | Marks Unexplained World Podcast (Ep. 146)

The 1948 Donora smog killed 20 people and caused respiratory problems for 6,000 of the 14,000 people living in Donora, Pennsylvania.

Sixty years later, the incident was described by The New York Times as "one of the worst air pollution disasters in the nation's history." Even 10 years after the incident, mortality rates in Donora were significantly higher than those in other communities nearby.

Jeannette DePalma was an American teenager who is believed to have been murdered sometime on or around August 7, 1972, in Springfield Township, Union County, New Jersey, United States.

Her body was discovered the following month on a cliff (known to locals as "the Devil's Teeth") located in Springfield's Houdaille Quarry.

The events of her death were subject to sensationalist coverage in local media for rumoured connections to alleged occult activity in the area.

The Dark Story Behind Janis Joplin | Marks Unexplained World Podcast (Ep. 144)

Janis Lyn Joplin was an American singer and songwriter, and one of the most iconic and successful rock performers of her era, she was noted for her powerful mezzo-soprano vocals, as well as her "electric" stage presence.

However, on Sunday evening, of the 4th of October 1970, she was found dead on the floor of her room at the Landmark Motor Hotel by her road manager and close friend John Byrne Cooke.

Her death was ruled accidental.

The Fire at the Dupont Plaza Hotel | Marks Unexplained World Podcast (Ep. 143)

On New Year's Eve, December 31, 1986, three disgruntled employees at the Dupont Plaza Hotel in San Juan, Puerto Rico, intentionally set a fire.

The fire killed between 96 and 98 people and injured 140 others, making it the most catastrophic hotel fire in Puerto Rican history and the second deadliest hotel fire in U.S. territory in history.

The Tuskegee Syphilis Study | Marks Unexplained World Podcast (Ep. 141)

The Tuskegee Study of Untreated Syphilis in the Negro Male was a study conducted between 1932 and 1972 by the United States Public Health Service and the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention on a group of nearly 400 African American men with syphilis.

The purpose of the study was to observe the effects of the disease when untreated, though by the end of the study, medical advancements meant it was entirely treatable.

The men were not informed of the nature of the experiment, and as a consequence, more than 100 them died.
