On this episode we discuss community, challenges that present themselves and the solutions that can solve them. We also find out what motivates and inspires the work these women do.     Carmen Francellno is the Family Engagement Coordinator at the Evanston Public Library (EPL). A lifelong resident of Evanston and a Black woman, she has a strong connection to the community and focuses on enhancing library services for diverse families. Her role involves overseeing community outreach and library programming specifically aimed at Black residents. Francellno plays a vital part in special initiatives, including those for Black History Month, to build stronger ties with Evanston's African-American community. She leads programs that highlight significant historical narratives and has successfully secured grants to fund projects such as "1619: The Journey of a People." With a background as a classroom teacher, Francellno brings a community-centered approach to her work, ensuring that EPL offers inclusive resources and programs for all families.
