    Radio Free Oz began as a free-form radio show hosted by Paul Robbins and Peter Bergman on the Los Angeles station KPFK in July 1966. Bergman invited three friends, Phil Austin, the show's producer; David Ossman, the radio station's former dramatic director; and Sexy Boomer Show co-host Phil Proctor, an actor and Bergman's former college mate, to form The Firesign Theatre, masters of surreal radio comedy.
