  • Bending and Not Breaking: Liz and Bryce The Third on Adapting, Maintenance, and the Human Experience
    2025/06/03

    Send us a text

#35: This week on Rise Recover Live, Liz and Bryce The Third return to for a heartfelt conversation between two friends, diving into what it means to adapt.

As life moves through seasons, each one calls us to shift our mindsets and behaviors. For Liz, adaptation was a survival tool during active addiction. She reflects on the delicate balancing act of trying to feel better while in pain, reaching for the only tool she knew at the time.

But even before taking her last drink, Liz began to shift her mindset—deciding she deserved recovery and happiness. Now, her focus is maintenance: doing the daily work to feel strong and supported. Whether it’s going to bed early, seeing a therapist, staying connected to friends, or being present, these tools help her navigate whatever life throws at her.

Bryce shares how he actively leans into the challenge of shifting his mindset—because it's something he can control. Every day, he identifies what's within his power to change and what steps align him with the person he wants to be. It's how he bends without breaking. And when he catches himself being self-critical, he pauses to reframe and practice gratitude.

  • Anxiety’s at the Wheel, But I’ve Got the Map: Liz McKean on slowing down, breathing deep, and finding our way back to ourselves.

    Send us a text

#34: This week on Rise Recover Live, Liz takes the mic for her first-ever solo episode—connecting one-on-one with listeners in a heartfelt, snack-sized reflection.

She opens up about her lifelong relationship with anxiety—her ever-present companion through addiction, recovery, and growth. From white-knuckling through early sobriety to learning how to soften into support, Liz shares how her tools have evolved over time.

Where she once reached for a drink, she now reaches for her people—friends, family, routines, and clinical support that remind her she’s not alone. Because even when anxiety grabs the wheel, Liz has learned to breathe, check in, and return to what matters.

She leaves us with a simple but powerful reminder: you’re not alone, and it’s okay to want to feel better. Sometimes the most radical thing you can do is take a breath and take care of you.

  • Sharon Donnelly: Meet People Where They Are
    2025/05/20

    Send us a text

#33: This week on Rise, Recover, Live, Bryce The Third sits down with Sharon Donnelly (she/her), President of the Teddy Kradzinski Foundation, registered nurse and Certified Case Manager (CCM).

Sharon shares a deeply personal story as a mother navigating her son Teddy's battle with substance use disorder. She reflects on the challenges of finding resources and treatment in a fragmented system—what she describes as a relentless “hamster wheel”—and the three years she spent with Teddy while he was in recovery. Throughout their journey, Sharon emphasizes the importance of setting boundaries, taking care of yourself, and meeting loves ones where they are.

By sharing her story, including the heartbreaking loss of Teddy to an accidental overdose, Sharon hopes to bring comfort to other bereaved families and spread awareness. She wants them to know they are not alone, and that a compassionate, understanding community is here to support them.

Teddy was so much more than his addiction. His legacy of open-heartedness, curiosity, and non-judgmental spirit lives on through the work of the Teddy Kradzinski Foundation.

Learn more about the Teddy Kradzinski Foundation by visiting www.teawithted.org and follow along on Instagram @tea_withted and Facebook. To connect directly, you can reach Sharon at info@teawithted.org.
