Workingman's Dead is the fourth studio album (and fifth overall) by American rock band the Grateful Dead. It was recorded in February 1970 and originally released on June 14, 1970, by Warner Bros. Records. The album and its studio follow-up, American Beauty, were recorded back-to-back using a similar style, eschewing the psychedelic experimentation of previous albums in favor of Jerry Garcia and Robert Hunter's Americana-styled songcraft.

Iron Maiden is the debut studio album by English heavy metal band Iron Maiden, released on 11 April 1980[2][3] by EMI Records in the UK and Harvest and Capitol Records in the US. The North American version included the song "Sanctuary", released in the UK as a non-album single. In 1998, along with the rest of the band's pre-1995 releases, Iron Maiden was remastered with "Sanctuary" added in all territories. However, 2014 vinyl reissues, 2015 digital releases and 2018 CD reissues use the original track listing across the globe. It is the band's only album to feature guitarist Dennis Stratton.

  • "Hey, what's bubbling down under there? Why's it screaming?" Dave brings in a heavy and sludgy album from Dinosaur Jr., You're Living All Over Me (1987)
    2025/02/10

    Send us a text

You're Living All Over Me is the second studio album by American alternative rock band Dinosaur Jr. It was released on December 14, 1987, through SST Records.

A refinement of the formula introduced on the band's debut album Dinosaur, You're Living All Over Me features drawling vocals paired with loud guitars and driving rhythms, presaging grunge. The album was well-reviewed upon release, and is now regarded as one of the greatest and most influential albums in alternative rock.

Dinosaur Jr. released their first album, Dinosaur, in 1985, largely to critical indifference and low sales; only about 1,500 copies were sold in its first year.[2]

The album's title was long rumored to have been a phrase uttered by singer/guitarist J Mascis in frustration at the cramped conditions of a lengthy tour. However, Mascis has denied this story, claiming, "I thought of it more like my sister… You know someone just like, bugging me at the time."[4]

  • LISTEN TO THE CONGRESS WHERE WE PROPAGATE CONFUSION! Sean brings in R.E.M.'s 1987 album Document. An album that has unfortunatley aged very well with its political themes.

Document is the fifth studio album by American rock band R.E.M., released on September 1, 1987, by I.R.S. Records. It was their first album to be co-produced by the band and Scott Litt.

Continuing in the vein of their previous album Lifes Rich Pageant, Document features more audible lyrics and a harder rock sound in comparison to the band's earlier releases. The album became R.E.M.'s greatest success at the time, giving the band their first top 10 hit ("The One I Love") and album, peaking at number 10 on the Billboard 200.[3]

Document was R.E.M.'s first album to be co-produced by the band and Scott Litt; this was a collaboration that continued through the productions of Green, Out of Time, Automatic for the People, Monster, and New Adventures in Hi-Fi. The album's clear production and muscular rock riffs both helped to move the band toward mainstream success and built on the work done by Don Gehman, who had produced their previous album Lifes Rich Pageant. This release not only launched "The One I Love" — R.E.M.'s first Top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 9 — but also gave them their first

  • SITTING HERE LIKE UNINVITED COMPANY, WALLOWING IN OUR OWN OBSCENITIES, SHARING CIGARETTES WITH NEGATIVITY: Steve brings in an album by one of his all time favorites, an album that helped put grunge on the map, BADMOTORFINGER (1991) by SOUNDGARDEN
    2025/01/27

    Send us a text

Badmotorfinger is the third studio album by American rock band Soundgarden, released on October 8, 1991, through A&M Records.[5] Soundgarden began the recording sessions for the album with new bassist Ben Shepherd in the spring of 1991. The album maintained the band's heavy metal sound, while featuring an increased focus on songwriting compared to the band's previous releases. AllMusic considered the album's music to be "surprisingly cerebral and arty"; alternative tunings and odd time signatures were present on several of the album's songs, and lyrics were intended to be ambiguous and evocative.

The focus on the Seattle grunge scene helped bring attention to Badmotorfinger, and the singles "Outshined" and "Rusty Cage" found a major audience in rock radio and MTV.

Badmotorfinger has been classified by various critics as grunge,[7][8] alternative metal,[9] heavy metal[10] and hard rock.[11]

  • FASCISTS MARCHING ON THE HIGH STREET CARVING UP THE WELFARE STATE! Dave brings in a POWER IN THE DARKNESS (1978) by the Tom Robinson Band, an awesome pub rock album with amazing socially or politically conscious lyrics
    2025/01/21

Power in the Darkness is the debut studio album by English punk band Tom Robinson Band, released in early 1978. The UK LP had ten tracks. It included inside the album cover a stencil similar to the cover art, but with the album title replaced by "Tom Robinson Band"; it held the warning, "This stencil is not meant for spraying on public property!!!" The US release was packaged with a seven-track bonus LP. The record sleeve of the bonus LP included the number to the Gay & Lesbian Switchboard of New York. The 1993 CD re-release included all 17 tracks. Two more tracks were included on a 2004 re-release. After TRB guitarist Danny Kustow's death in 2019, Robinson frequently dedicated "Too Good to Be True" to him.

Crack the Skye is the fourth studio album by American heavy metal band Mastodon, released on March 24, 2009, through Reprise, Sire and Relapse Records.[7][8] The album debuted at number 11 on the Billboard 200, selling 41,000 copies in its first week.[9] In Australia, the album debuted at number 19.[10] It had sold 200,000 copies in the US as of September 2010, making it one of their highest-selling albums to date.[11]

Drummer Brann Dailor described the album as more "focused" than its predecessor, Blood Mountain: "Maybe there was a deeper heart to this record that needed more exploring ... We got more involved with feeling the vibe of the record and everything feels more creepy and spaced out and something special is going on."[12] During the composition of the record, Brent Hinds listened to In the Court of the Crimson King by King Crimson every day as inspiration, while Dailor and Troy Sanders listened to Pink Floyd's

Fun House is the second studio album by American rock band the Stooges. It was released on July 7, 1970, by Elektra Records.[4] Though initially commercially unsuccessful, Fun House has since developed a strong cult following. Like its predecessor (1969's The Stooges) and successor (1973's Raw Power), it is considered an integral work in the development of punk rock. - Wikipedia
