  • Keeping Up With the Joneses: Living the "American Dream" but at what cost?
    2024/08/07

May today’s episode of the Somewhere Road podcast be your reminder that we don’t always know where to start but something beautiful can come from trusting your inner knowing & going with the flow.

In Episode 13, "Keeping Up With the Joneses: Living the 'American Dream' but at what cost?," Co-Hosts Meg Vitti & Nicole Danielle dive into the idea of the American Dream and discuss how the expectations of others can make us desire a life that’s not true to what makes YOU happy. Then later, a listener wrote in asking Nicole about her own journey with starting over & writing her book and Nicole addresses this question that focuses on “starting over, why to do it & when?”

Not knowing how today’s walk was going to start, Meg & Nicole just let it all flow and it evolved into a truly packed episode with lots of takeaways we hope will bring value to your life. The girls cover lots of topics on this walk, some including:

    - Where would Meg live if she no longer lived in Jersey?

    - The mortgage, the big house, the white picket fence… chasing the “American Dream” but at what cost?

    - Is it really your dream or the expectation of following what everyone else is doing?

    - Carving out your piece in this world

    - Don’t leave this world without making your mark on it & imprint on those you meet

    - Being unafraid to take chances promotes opportunity for growth

    - The dangers of “expectations”

    - Our ancestors didn’t have time to be afraid

    - Are you just going to walk someone else’s path?

    - The grass (seems) greener until it isn’t

    - A big house full of STUFF does not define happiness

    - “Adulting”

    - How do YOU define success?

    - No time is wasted time if you learn from the lesson

    - New listener question for Nicole

    - How powerful your intuition & gut is to your inner knowing

    - Nicole dives deeper into finding the strength to write her book & why she did it

    - What “starting over” is for Nicole

    - Not looking back & regretting you didn’t take the chance

    - The #1 thing that stops you from making progress forward in anything

    - Relearning what you already knew

    - Nicole shares one of the “darkest” stories from her book & why the ones who seem to be able to handle it all are actually the ones suffering inside

    - And then, Meg flips the question onto the listener…

May this episode help you see that in every part of the darkness, there is beauty in the light.

And please keep those listener’s questions coming. So much of our incredible discussions along Somewhere Road are happening because of YOU.

Deep breaths, Friends. We got you. Time to go for a walk…

  • SHIT HAPPENS: How to find the positive within the negative seasons of life.
    2024/07/31

What do you do when you feel like you're "going through it" & you know you don't want to feel stuck but also don't know what you want?

Well, on this week's episode of the Somewhere Road podcast, Co-Hosts Meg Vitti & Nicole Danielle tackle the complexity of that question & talk through handling the hard seasons of life we all encounter at some point.

It's inevitable that on this journey in life, we will all face hard times but an essential part of getting through it is knowing that a positive mindset can change it all.

On today's walk, Meg & Nicole dive deep into this listener's question and remind all of you that on the journey from dark to light, you're gonna feel all the things during that grey "Messy Middle" part. A quick but powerful episode, the conversation goes beyond simply answering the question but covers topics such as:

    - How to find positive in the negative

    - Staying in the "shit" or choosing to dance in the rain

    - Allowing yourself to have emotional reactions

    - Trusting yourself vs living in a victim-induced mindset

    - SHIT HAPPENS, literally! (Thanks, Gabbie!)

    - Life is about perspective

    - What to do to start living a better life

    - Opposites: Good / Bad, Positive / Negative

    - Tease into Nicole's second book

    - Ying / Yang = Your Whole Self

    - "Backpacks" + No one else's SHIT is yours to carry

    - Can't rush someone else's process

    - Not about "right" and "wrong"

    - Why "TALK" is so important

    - "BandAids" will never allow you to move on

    - And so much more!

Keep those listener questions coming! We LOVE them!

Ep 12: "SHIT HAPPENS: How to find the positive within the negative seasons of life" is a quick but packed episode that you don't wanna miss. Put on those headphones, tune out the noise & come take a walk with us down Somewhere Road.

  • Social Media Evolution: Maturing Your Perspective and "Pit" in the Digital Age
    2024/07/24

    Welcome back to Somewhere Road!

On today's episode, things get spicy as Co-Hosts Meg Vitti & Nicole Danielle address a listener's question about "friendship" & that thing called Social Media.

One of you amazing listeners out there opened up to us about a problem you're having with one of your friends who, in front of others, called you out for not "liking" one of her posts... (insert exploding head emoji)!

In a digital age where the idea of "Social Media" is taken way too seriously, Meg & Nicole let their own views fly and hold nothing back while discussing this dicey, and somewhat controversial, topic.

We live in a world where often, for many, there's a heavy emphasis on the idea of "friends" and "following," overlooking the value of true connection. While Meg calls out the fakeness of a perceived life that isn't real, Nicole explains why she has no problem if someone chooses to "unfollow" her. And while Nicole is as a big fan of social media housekeeping, she also drops a huge bomb you aren't gonna wanna miss!

Thanks to you listening, Episode 11 - Social Media Evolution: Maturing Your Perspective and "Pit" in the Digital Age, might just be one of our favorites yet!

We really are in this together! Keep those questions coming because this episode is proof of the beautiful discussions that can be had and are the reason we show up week after week to discuss, in a safe space, the things people don't always want to talk about.

Episode 11 is waiting for ya! Come on, let's take a walk...

*Please note that little 'E' icon if real, unfiltered voices are too triggering for you. We promised to always show up as ourselves. ;-)
