  • S6E5 - James Franklin's failures; Luke Fickell takes his shot; A unique World Series; NIL in high school...no thanks
    2023/10/26
10-24-23 We Tackle Life show notes:

James Franklin is 1-9 against Ohio State...how does Penn State put up with that?

Luke Fickell takes his shot at OSU on Saturday night.

Ohio State hoops gets an exhibition win over Dayton. What are the Buckeyes' prospects this season?

The Arizona Diamondbacks and Texas Rangers both lost 100 games two years ago and were way under .500 last year. Tell me again how we need to be patient as Reds and Guardians fans.

Name, Image and Likeness payments to college athletes...should they be secret or public. And what would be the impact of NIL coming to the high school ranks?

If you want to attend the Ohio prep football playoffs, it will cost you a lot more to pay in cash than to buy a digital ticket. Why is that?

In the faith portion of the podcast, take care of the most important thing in life before it's too late to do so.

  • S6E4 - OSU vs. USC, Texas or OU...Buckeyes' All-American Sammy Sasso victimized again, this time by media corruption
    2023/10/10
    10-8-23 Show Notes:

Ohio State rolls Maryland, but how would the Buckeyes do against Texas, Oklahoma or USC, after all three played epic games on Saturday.

    Hey, Browns...draft that Arizona kid

Why you never draft a running back early or pay him twice

USC has Caleb Williams, who may win the Heisman Trophy again, and looks like he deserves it. But was that a character win for the Trojans against Arizona that revealed the presence of character or the absence of the same

Hey, YouTubeTV....if you're going to have 55 key plays, make one of them the one that decided the outcome.

Williams' two most spectacular plays show that he can do what no one else in college can do. At least, not both.

A Travis Etienne memory OSU fans won't like

NBC's coverage of the Ryder Cup now looms even worse than it was in the moment. And that's really bad.

Ohio State All-American wrestler Sammy Sasso nearly died when two teenagers car-jacked him in mid-August. Now Sammy is in a wheelchair and fighting to resume his career, which gave the Columbus Dispatch license to victimize him all over again in the name of tolerance and sensitivity.

    Accountability matters...or should.

The faith portion of the podcast discusses prayer...what it is and what can happen when it's visited upon a seemingly-impossible situation.

  • S6E2 - Ryder Cup goes South; So will Stefon Diggs; Mel Tucker has...and how you know you're wrong
    2023/10/02
    10-1-23 We Tackle Life podcast:

The dearth of truthful reporting and commentary has consequences far beyond the Ryder Cup.

Stefon Diggs has a big game, so his petulance and unreliability doesn't matter to Bill Cowher. It would, if Cowher had to coach him.

Mel Tucker is contorting himself into, around and threw every legal loophole to get every dollar he can out of Michigan State University, which justifiably fired him for betraying his responsibility and charge to those from whom he sought that privilege.

We can all take a lesson from Jesus honest, comprehensive answer to critics who looked to trip Him up with their fanciful concoctions.

  • S6E1 - The We Tackle Life podcast returns!
    2023/09/25

    Show notes....9-25-23:

Today, Season 6 begins with a new focus in light of a brain tumor diagnosis and upcoming cancer treatment.

The podcast will return, still focused on sports, but more deeply than results.

Toward that end, we could and should and must learn a lot from what happened at a high school game in Western Ohio on Friday night.

USC is one of the best college football teams in the country. But it's not elite, nor are many programs, where it should be.

You could see the US Women's Solheim Cup team flop coming, because of something that happened well in advance of the flop.

Faith portion...when obedience really is, and why it matters.
