  • Reflecting on Square Hole: Beginning to Learn and Understanding a Diagnosis

    As an Art Director/Photographer and Illustrator/Educator, Lorna and Jhinuk unveil their own perspectives on how Neurodiverse traits are attributed to their creative careers. In these combined episodes, they listen back and reflect on points throughout the interview that have directly affected their learning of Neurodiversity, particularly in their own creative processes as well as its impact on the industry at large. In this episode, Lorna and Jhinuk respond to establishing what it means to be Neurodiverse, whilst exploring the impact that a diagnosis has on creative practices. They also uncover some experiences that had started an explorative, emotional journey for Neurodiverse creatives. That journey focuses in on their education, how they found the courage to own and feel empowered by their learning differences.

    As an Art Director/Photographer and Illustrator/Educator, Lorna and Jhinuk unveil their own perspectives on how Neurodiverse traits are attributed to their creative careers. In these combined episodes, they listen back and reflect on points throughout the interview that have directly affected their learning of Neurodiversity, particularly in their own creative processes as well as its impact on the industry at large. In this episode, Lorna and Jhinuk unpack those barriers Neurodiverse creatives can face when applying for jobs and fitting in with a team. They do this by responding to guests who share their experiences on performing in interviews, finding or applying for creative work and processing information creatively whilst also working with new colleagues.

    As an Art Director/Photographer and Illustrator/Educator, Lorna and Jhinuk unveil their own perspectives on how Neurodiverse traits are attributed to their creative careers. In these combined episodes, they listen back and reflect on points throughout the interview that have directly affected their learning of Neurodiversity, particularly in their own creative processes as well as its impact on the industry at large. Lorna and Jhinuk consider the tension between Neurotypical and Neurodiverse creatives working together in this episode. They respond to creative industry employers and their perspectives on supporting Neurodiverse employees. How can Neurodiversity change mindsets? What are employers looking for when hiring a creative? Juliet is an Artist who has worked alongside Neurodivergent artists on many community projects, predominantly based in Manchester. In this interview we hear Juliet share their thoughts on how beneficial it is to work collaboratively and how collaboration with Neurodivergent participants can positively influence creative processes.     Lorna and Jhinuk caught up with Ab while he was in the midst of installing the companion exhibition to Wes Anderson’s film, The French Dispatch at 180 The Strand. They discussed his creative process and how he found a way to thrive in the creative industry.
