  • Legendary songwriter Diane Warren, plus 6 new movies and TV shows worth watching!
    2022/02/02
This week Bruce Miller has a great conversation with honest to god legendary songwriter Diane Warren who, over the course of her career, has been nominated for twelve Academy Awards but somehow has yet to snag a statue. The Oscar nominations will be announced this weekend and her song "Somehow You Do" (YouTube) from the movie Four Good Days (Hulu) might make it a baker's dozen and then maybe finally put her over the line with a win! Also we round up some of the brand new movies and TV shows worth seeing: Jackass Forever (In theaters Feb. 4) "It's Three Stooges-level in terms of physical comedy. They sell it perfectly. The way they set up the stunts perfectly to maximize the laughs. They're geniuses in that respect. And also it's just fun to hang out with those guys." - Jared Pam & Tommy (Hulu, Feb. 2) "Lily James is playing Pam Anderson and she is incredible! Incredible! She is exactly like Pam Anderson. I have interviewed Pam and I know what she's like and I know the kind of coy things she does and this woman captures every bit of it... I think they captures=d their personalities just right on." - Bruce Moonfall (In theaters Feb. 4) "I might just go watch people fight the moon this weekend. I'm all in on that. It looks incredibly stupid and I'm totally fine with that." - Jared Nightmare Alley (HBO Max and HULU, Feb. 1) "Bradley Cooper, especially the last part, is doing some of my favorite work that I've seen him do. His last little turn is fantastic." - Jared Murderville (Netflix, Feb. 3) "It sounds like it could be really interesting, or... not that? ... I'm really interested to see what the execution is going to be like!" - Chris Red Rocket (A24 Screening Room, Feb. 5) "I think there are going to be surprises, like Nicolas Cage nominated for best actor for Pig. And Simon Rex is another one that could be slipping into that category. As much as people think Denzel Washington is a lock for The Tragedy of Macbeth, I think he could get bounced by one of those two." - Bruce Streamed & Screened is a podcast about movies and TV hosted by Bruce Miller, an entertainment reporter for multiple decades who is now the editor of the Sioux City Journal, Jared McNett, a reporter for the Sioux City Journal, and Chris Lay, the podcast operations manager for Lee Enterprises.
