Today's Case A 44-year-old female presents to the emergency department with acute onset epigastric pain for the past 2 days, constant, with radiation to the back. Her eyes and skin “turned yellow” 1 day ago. She denies any fevers. The patient drinks one or two beers per week, does not smoke, denies nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug (NSAID), use and is not on glucocorticoids. She denies any heartburn or acid reflux symptoms. She had right upper quadrant (RUQ ) abdominal pain that was colicky and worsened with food intake 1 week before, which resolved spontaneously after 1 day and she therefore did not seek medical attention.
