Success is Subjective: Real People. Raw Stories. Embracing a Non-Linear Life!

著者: Joanna Lilley MA NCC
  • サマリー

  • Interviews of people who took a break from life at one point or another to get help, grow up, or just to reassess their life direction. Some guests struggled with depression, anxiety, substance abuse, a death in the family, or just decided college was not the place for them. These stories are all-to-real, and yet we don't talk enough about how common it is for those who took a gap year to defer college, went to college and took a break, or those who struggled launching into the workforce post-college graduation. This goes out to all the young adults and parents of young adults who are struggling and contemplating what will happen if they walk away right now.

    2024/10/15

In this Former Participant Series, Joanna interviews previously troubled teens and young adults who underwent a treatment program. Today, Joanna welcomes Bella. With incredible vulnerability, Bella shares about her pre-teen and teen years when she became an alcoholic and substance abuser, was admitted to a psych hospital, went to wilderness therapy, a therapeutic boarding school, and residential therapy - which ultimately led her to the work she does today: as a Clinical Program Director for an outpatient addiction treatment facility.

  • Episode 253 - Falling into a New Career at the Ripe Age of 40 with Jill Rickel
    2024/10/09

    Description:

On today’s episode of Success is Subjective, Joanna welcomes Jill Rickel. Jill is a CEP (Certified Educational Planner), the Founder of AO Therapeutic Consulting and she currently travels nationwide to evaluate schools and therapeutic programs. This episode centers on Jill’s journey to her current career path - one that she would not have imagined back when she considered herself a “non-working stay-at-home mom” - a title which, hilariously, turned out to be completely inaccurate.

NOTE: The podcasts in this series can include sensitive subjects such as suicide, self-harm, substance abuse, hospitalizations, psychotic episodes, and other traumatic experiences which include parts of the treatment journey. No topic is off limits and not all stories are positive but they are real, raw, and transparent.
