  • Is human history the story of inequality? Plus the canon and philosophy | Dr. Gerald Bray
    2024/10/07

This conversation with Dr Gerald Bray was recorded on September 24 2024. Gerald is the Director of research for Latimer Trust in London and Research Professor of Divinity at Beeson Divinity School, Birmingham Alabama. Gerald has written major texts of theology such as God is Love, and God Has Spoken: A History of Christian Theology. For such a learned man, I’ve always found Gerald to be such a humble and down to earth person. In our conversation we covered the intersection of philosophy and theology; we covered history and how it relates to the Bible; we talked about the formation of the new testament canon; and I asked him a couple of personal questions about what difference following Jesus makes to his life. And like all good and profound conversations recorded online, there was some unwelcome hum which I’m hoping won’t be too distracting. • Can the Bible be interpreted correctly? | Rev Dr Andrew Judd
    2024/09/23

This conversation with Andrew Judd was recorded on September 5, 2024. Andrew is an ordained Anglican minister working as deputy principal at Ridley College Melbourne. Andrew has a PhD in biblical hermeneutics from Sydney University, specifically focusing on Hans-Georg Gadamer’s phenomenology of play, Christian interpretation of the Hebrew scriptures, and why smart people seem to keep disagreeing on what the Bible means. Something I really appreciated in this conversation was Andy’s ability to explain the nuances of hermeneutics in a very user friendly way, and I think in a way that would make sense to both Christians and those who aren’t religious. • Law, religion and the present moment in history | Assoc. Prof. Neil Foster
    2024/09/22

This conversation with Neil Foster was recorded on August 15 2024. Neil is an Associate Professor in the School of Law and Justice at the University of Newcastle, NSW, Australia. He has a combined Arts/Law degree from the University of NSW, a degree in Theology from the Australian College of Theology, a Diploma of Arts in Theology from Moore Theological College, and a research Master of Laws degree from the University of Newcastle. He runs a blog on Law and Religion issues, https://lawandreligionaustralia.blog My conversation with Neil felt like a very patient person bearing with a total outsider to the field of law, and my host of fairly basic questions. But I so enjoyed talking to Neil and I hope the resulting conversation is as helpful for you as it was for me.
