  • Mobile ordering and payments platform for restaurants and guests | Waitrr COO Tim Davies
    2023/09/06

We have a chat with Tim Davies, Co-founder and COO of Waitrr. Waitrr allows restaurant guests to access menus, place orders and pay instantly - all from their phones. No more waving to get the attention of the waiters. It is a mobile payment and ordering solution that increases the capacity of floor staff, increase table turns and increases average ticket size.

With a team of 10, Waitrr currently processes USD 27million in GMV. Did you know that 1/3 of a restaurant's expense goes towards manpower? To tackle the manpower issues, restaurants have turned towards tablet ordering and ordering kiosks. But no one wants to input their credit card details on a shared tablet. For the kiosks, they've just moved the human cashier to a machine and these kiosks take up valuable floor space.

    Benefits of Waitrr to restaurants:

    1. Can go live in 48 hours

    2. Save on manpower

    3. Increase average check size due to automated upselling and cross selling

    4. Improve table turns - faster payment + faster ordering

    5. Access to data that they have never had access to before (how often are customers coming back, are they a first-time customer and so on)

To discover more about this restaurant technology startup, be sure to watch this episode!

01:14 - Origin story of Waitrr (How did the two Tims meet?)

03:33 - Waitrr Pitch Deck run through

06:07 - Tremendous growth in GMV (Doubling year on year)

06:40 - The Future (restaurant bank, diner data and more)

08:26 - The Market Opportunity (on-premise dining segment is 4 to 5 times larger than delivery)

10:03 - Kiosks vs Waitrr - Difference in cost

11:15 - How much is floor space considered when deciding on an ordering solution?

12:25 - Osman's experience with the Waitrr service
