A new part of the Crimson Connective podcast feed, Joe Silverzweig and Matt Patton bring you The Stat Connect, a statistical analysis of Utah Football, from game lines and predictions to the Statbusters segment where we test specific hypotheses through a variety of statistical analyses.
In episode one, Matt and Joe discuss the rise and fall of the spread and look at some of the narratives surrounding the game from the Florida side of things, as Matt applies the Statbuster experiment to the idea that Florida is a bigger and better version of a football team compared to the University of Utah. Joe then looks at some of the same criteria from a more historical perspective, especially zeroing in on Florida teams of years past, which leads to a discussion of the uniqueness of Florida's travel situation and the impending hurricane altering the Gators' travel plans. Finally, the guys throw out some of their own analytically-backed predictions for the game to add a little extra skin in the game.
